We've had two so far univited, both fecking Yanks . Whats our policy going ot be , initially I was feeling tolerant but this morning I'm thinking why should we put up with it ? We've no idea who these people are, they could be rip off merchants . Even when we tell them to get in touch they don't have the courtesy to do so .
Me pers view is that obvious commercial users coming here just to get free advertsing should have their posts deleted and a PM sent to them inviting them to request a space for their shop in exchange for a discount code. No response then feck em off.
Obviously we might have ot modify this approach if someone like SOF came along , however for unknown foreign suppliers suggest this is the way to go .
Any thoughts ?

its all extra 'one stop' for our customers, even the shirts guy is semi rlevant as he does german 40s sports vests which are not 'right' as the insignia wasnt pritned it was on a patch but will look good for our game sand weekends
I suggest we ask for a sample if were not sure of quality, just one no need to go mad
and we ask that they offer a minimum five percent discoutn.

Broadly agree that we should encourage them , but in a regulated way ie thay have a bit in the retailers section and offer at least 5% discount. If they are just posting ot increase their google hit rate it will become obvious , and we can decide what to do then .

I originally posted in the Sales section but someone told me that is not allowed as that is geared toward private sales.

While I think it is a good idea to have retailer involvement (and I'm not bothered about others benefiting commercialy) I would like to see a benefit to our members, as we discussed earlier re Epic etc...
The fact that it's Yanks who have been pro-active doesn't surprise me, unlike the Brits they don't mind pushing their products!

I used to design shirts for GW events so i've done a fair bit of researching, resourcing, contracting and designing in that field btw.
Before i started doing it you couldlt *give* gw shirts away, now you find staff desperately hanging on to em as i made them cool again..
Got rid of the stupid pictures of orcs waving axes and used some of the cool unit insignias we had and made tau/cadian/marine specific shirts etc.
Still fetch about £20 each on ebay, not bad for shirt that cost £4 to make

Edit: Plenty of Brit suppliers, don't go giving cash to foreigners!
My 2p is that it should be encouraged as long as there's a benefit to our members and that the company is reputable.
Perhaps we should also think about what CiA can get out of the relationship too. Maybe we could insist of banners or links from their sites as a good will gesture.

We've discussed this now, and the way we've dealt with it before is to allow a retailer to have their own forum on the site. See the "Shoot'n'Scoot" forum at the bottom of the forum list.
We don't want to ask for payment for the forum as we're a not-for-profit group and don't want the extra monetary hassle. However the deal we have with S&S is based on discounts being offered to forum members.
We also would ask that you add a link to our site on your links page.
