Right - I'll give this my full attention in a while.
More pressingly I got home and no heating. Boiler works, hot water cylinder stat calls for heat - boiler fires up, wall thermstat calls for heat - nothing. ![]()

Guy... that may be a solution... But I do provide tech support... which is rather difficult to do if I don't have admin rights.
Its up to him... he's the boss of the forum as far as I'm concerned... If he does decide to keep me then I will promise to run any significant changes past him before I make them.
Dave... I do hope you get your heating sorted... can't be much fun!
Have the eskimo's moved in yet, like in the BG advert? ![]()
Is the pump running ?
Check the three-way valve as well. Had a very similar problem in this house recently - bloody thing was stuck ![]()

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
When that happened to mine it was rubber diaphram in the piping, when hot water is turned on everythng fires up and water rushes past the diapram. the pressue is supposed to make it bulge and flack a microswtich heating the element for the water to spray over.
When it decays it doesnt bulge.
its a rubber disc about 50mm diameter

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Swapped the controller (got a spare!) no change.
Manually turn up HW thermostat, hear click, pump kicks in, boiler fires.
Manually turn up wall thermo, hear click, pump doesn't turn on.
Got a spare valve motor, try and swap that. Hope it's not the valve, bastards haven't put shut-off valves around it - if it's a stuck valve and a whack doesn't free it then I'll have to drain the system...

Happy days! I shall be demanding my conjugal rights tonight (if I can remember how).
It was the valve motor. Put the meter across the connections - wall thermo set cold, no power, turn up and click, 230v to the valve. Ripped it out, whacked the new one it. Click, whirrr, pump trips, boiler fires - result!
Cheers for your help all.
Now, about that other thing.....

... which was taking daughter and friend into town...
Now the other, other thing....
Right, the forum. I think it is fair to say we (remaining CiA members) assumed that Richard having stood down from CiA would do the same from the CiA forum. I had prepared myself for it having got a working understanding of the forum over the past year, both public facing and under the bonnet. Mostly through fighting traumas of crashing or moving servers but also taming it to make it look and do what I want. Hell, I even set up a gallery section run from MySQL all by myself, even if it took a bank holiday Monday to do it
.
I really, really want us to at least get on, if not be best buddies. We have achieved so much this past year. The last fall out was pretty dramatic yet was the most significant and positive thing to happen in recent times not only in boosting interest in Brits (and as a subsequence the Yanks) but also in lifting the approach to the next level.
The biggest disaster would be if PBI split away from this forum and did their own thing. WW2 airsoft is way too young to survive that - this forum is the home of WW2 airsoft in the UK and we need to stick together. Christ, it could even get so crap that we won't play with/against each other.
All of us in the past year have either though or said out loud something along the lines of 'fuck it, I can't be doing with this crap, I'm off - I've got better things to waste my time on'. Yet we are still here.
So that we stay here I have decided that for the time being I'll be the sole admin. If I'm away then we will work out a hand over procedure - Richard has full access to the server/database/forum if I expire (I won't be changing passwords or any of that shit Richard). But really this is a technicality - mod rights are pretty comprehensive for the day to day running anyway.
None of which is intended as a put down to you Rich without whom the forum wouldn't have got off to a flying start but I'm trying to steer a hassle-free path and look at the big picture - in-fighting and petty squabbles, regardless of who is right or wrong (if indeed there is a right or wrong), do nothing but harm. We have stressful enough lives without creating pointless angst.
Anyhoo, I'm off to claim my conjugals. Son is at Uni, daughter is on a sleep-over, wife had a training day so no kids to stress her out - it will be interesting to see what the excuse will be this time, probably be the time-honoured 'too tired' or 'pretend to have fallen asleep reading book' or 'on her period (for the third week running)'. ![]()

Have you tried the flushed grolling or the parping couplet?

Hmm plumbing and politics . My favourite .
Would say I'd look forward ot a succesful "mission acomplished" on Chommers other task ...however it'd sound pervy and I'm not really boverred to know .
Sounds a workable solution to the admin problem , happy to sign away my rights to admin in the name of accord, although changing avatars ia my main source of ammusement .
PS HS- the parping couplet is old fashioned technology , it's all wobblygigglepins these days.
I guess it was the felching valve.

No you're confusing it with reversed flushing now .
Reverse flushing is the excuse Dave's wife will have I suspect.

Do you think that's why he owns so many guns ?
Yup, sounds like a sensible suggestion David.
Right, back onto plumbing. It has to be the back scuttle. Needs greasing up and a good rodding. ![]()

Fair enough its your forum, Dave... your decision.
I guess I wish it hadn't come to this.
For some time its seemed to me that the forum was a seperate entity to Comrades in Arms the "events organising group". Heck the way I set up the permissions in the first place may have given that away. Why else have seperate Moderators and CiA Organisers groups?
When I left CIA it was not a decision I wanted to make, but one I was forced into and to be honest I really had hoped that when Wotan came up it wouldn't actually happen. Being in the group has always been great fun.
A request from me then... lets continue the openess between us all. I really don't want to hear of any Private forums popping up that the other group can't read. We have nothing to hide from each other... We are after all a lot stronger working together rather than apart!
However, I'd much prefer to see us all keep Site Admin priveliges, but all accept that CW is the boss. What he says goes and none of us can lay claim to owning/running this forum except him. This means we all can help him run things when needed if he's not around without the hassle of having to get me to hack permissions in the db and also we can guarantee the openness that has kept us together so far.
If this is not acceptable, then fine...
One last thing... I'm not sure if you realise this, but the big break up we had, which lead to me and Gadge leaving CiA was on exactly the same day that CiA was born, only one year later... don't beleive me? Go check the old ASCUK threads...
BTW... just been reading your post again Dave. What I say above still stands... but your words ring so true its unreal... Well done indeed!
OK Postscript....
HS - way too late telling me about the flushed grolling or the parping couplet? If only I'd known.
OS - wobblygigglepins may be the latest technology but some of us still work in old money
K - Greasing up and rodding failed. My nocturnal mission came to nowt - to be frank I couldn't be arsed. To be honest, I couldn't get Y's angst out of my mind which put me off lustful thoughts and trying to think of Kelly Brook failed. Damn you Yith! Still, there's always next year...
Y - Ta for cocking up my chances last night, I was convinced the signs were right for a bit of slap and tickle.
And yes, I had a look back at the ASCUK thread - I'd completely forgoten how this all came about. Brilliant that we actually got off our arses and got something done - onwards and upwards!

Soz Dave! I didn't get any either...
Luckily I had the night before.... ![]()
I won that lottery then ! Amazing what a trip to the pub can achieve.
