Right, that is pretty much sorted. Brits, Yanks and Krauts have their own sections so it should be must easier to find specific information now, esp for new users.

I have moved the contents of the old WW2 kit section, dividing it amongst the relevant sub-sections. Non-specific stuff has been moved to WW2 General.

The WW2 weapons section is very busy but I don't think it's worth messing with that - everyone is interested in it as a general subject anyway.

I have asked Diggah whether he he feels his Ruskie thing has legs - if so I'll set up a section for that and I've asked if he will take the lead.

As Kermit has observed - it does look like a lot of sections to us but the punter's view should be a good deal clearer.

I think anything withoug a game to support it is gong to fall flat on its arse to be honest.

If CiA or PBI (unlikely given our remit) do a russian front game i can see lots of folks splashingout if its archetypal enough (like a stalingrad for Arnhem) other wise its juts kit collecting with nowhere to really use it.

Basically what i think i'm trying to say is that i thiink players need something to aim for or they lose interest, geting your kit togehter for agamein three months is a much more credible reason than just collecting stuff.

make sense?

100% agree Gadge.

Jamie at F&O wanted to run a stanligrad game at their new site in Manchester... thats local to diggah... so probably a good idea for him to look into it?

Agree also.

Diggah has already been in discussion with Jamie (I think he has been doing a video for the new venue) so things might be underway already.

I'll find out a bit more from Ben and I want to see how F&O put together the big game in December without Mark's full involvement...
In any case, a CiA Russian based game doesn't have to be 'Stalingrad' - plenty more to go at than that.

BTW, Ben has accepted the mantle of Russian motivator so I'll set up a section and we'll see how far it gets.

No it doesnt have to be stalingrad but if personally if i were to launh a new 'brand' so to speka and needed maximum buy in i'd go for the most archetypal infantry battle i could think of.

Same as everyone could get their head around 'arnhem' and bought into it, stalingrad is what most peopel think of if you say 'russian front'.

People seem to be farmore up for battles they know and understand.

Sure, I just meant that if F&O run a game at Manchester it will be Stalingrad so we don't have to compete.

Feedback from Diggah:

Well Jamie (jimJogg) is very keen to get one going. I have my reservations about the site. While its multifloored and a big building, theres very little outdoors bit to it and its mostly all one building with 2 small outbuildings. The floors are very open plan. His idea is to put boards up to create a maze like appearance. This could work but I fear it may end up a glorified paintball arena. I think it would be fine for modern airsoft but not so much for WWII.

In my opinion Phoenix Urban is far better suited to a Stalingrad game. Im not saying you couldn't do it at F&O Urban but I think the experience would be significantly lessened sadly. I've not said this on open forum as I dont want to upset Jamie (who is manically keen about it).

Is Phoenix Urban still operating? Would be good to start putting the feelers out about that.

Replied to tell him about PU closing and new site opening in Jan (est.).

Heh... Clay Wheels Lane would have been ideal as well...

Loxley was too open... Proteus is as well... (and isn't a factory)

We'll have to see what Phoenix come up with!

He's not been having much luck as of late. The one time I went ot Protues ( which I reckon is a cracking site) I picked up that he didn't make any profit unless there were at least 60 players - ouch !

Pppff! He has 300 at one of the last games - fair profit in that. Grogan dived for the calculator when I told him and spluttered 'do you realise how much money he made'. He calmed down when I pointed out how crap the game probably was and that unhappy punters aren't worth any money at all!

Yeah, well he's making plenty right now!

With the homeless players from Phoenix Urban bumping up his intake he's getting between 120 and 300 players to each open day!

Pretty impressive!

I'm unlikely to ever go to another Open day again , certainly not with 120 people .
8)

Twas interesting to see the new place, Sean hadn't changed any , although I wish someone would prescribe the miserable bugger some Prozac .

lol...

It's cos he's running Open Days with 120+ people that he gets depressed... Its not the sort of thing he wants to do.

Personally I don't particularly want to travel an extra 40mins to go to a game like that when I have F&O open days with about 60 people to go to within 10mins. ;)

However I may pop over to Proteus at some point just so they know I still exist! lol
