I was going to send a mass email to remind about churchill's but the emailer is not working again...

I assume this is due to the server change... could you ask the host about it please Dave...

My message was:

Hi,

Just a reminder to please make sure you get your deposits for "Churchill's Revenge" in ASAP.

We're starting to think about the organisation of the sides and that is VERY hard when you don't know who is actually going to turn up for definite!

In particular we have a pretty low receipt of deposits from Allied troops.

The deadline for deposits is 17th June, but I'd be a lot happier if people who are going to attend could get them in within the next week.

Details of how to pay your deposit can be found here:
http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2 ... .php?t=291

Note the addresses are different from the ones we used for Arnhem and Battle of the Bulge as Oldsweat is collecting the money, not me.

Thanks,

Yith

You are flooding the email system Richard and anti-spam is kicking in.

Are you sending to just the people who have signed up of the entire database?

I was sending to the entire database cos its awkward sending to just the people who are booked in.

Really it'd be easier for Guy to set up a usergroup of those who are booked in and send to that...

I don't have all the usernames available to me.

Well you only need to send emails to the few bods who haven't paid - no need to spam everyone else.

Emails will be a better bet than a user group - that way it will get to them even if they don't access the forum. As you say, Guy has the up to date info...

I was sending emails... it was the bulk emailer I was using.

I've used it before without problems... I guess the extra users we have now are causing the issues.

(perhaps we should delete a few accounts... ;) )

Yes, you can't send bulk emails now. I meant send emails to the individuals concerned rather than everyone, there is more than enough spam as it is (I get 300+ a day!).

Re deleting accounts.
Could you look into installing this mod:
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1866
used in association with:
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/4361
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/3692
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/483

It will list chaps who have attempted to sign up but not activated their account (most likely cos they didn't read the hotmail/aol thing).

I'll keep an eye on it and send them an email via a different accoun't telling them the problem and get them to do it again - we seem to have an awful lot of 0 posters and I'm worried some of them may not have been able to sign on.

It'll take me a while to do that...

Not sure when I'll get round to it.
