see we have another bloke coming on offering retail stuff. I find it rude that they don't ask first ayway have sent this to him
Hello
Interested to see your first post listing items for sale . Can you tell me a little more about yourself, are you retailing these etc. We normally restrict sales t private individuals, however we would also consider granting forum space as shop fronts to our members . CiA operaters as non profit making, and therefore are not looking for money for this .
Look forward ot hearing from you , and what you can do for our members
Cheers
Guy
I'm happy ot let them have a space in return for a discount - any comments ?
Which bloke?

Ah, not put in 'For Sale'!
Yes, fair enough. I'd quite like interest in his stuff to be on the thread instead of PM'd so that we can see response.
The post in Where to get kit ought not to be self-posted, in other words players recommend (or otherwise) retailers - it's not a thread for self-promotion.

Looking at PG.net he looks on the level, I've asked if he'd be interested in having a lil retailor section in exchange for a member discount .
Thats Chris Hobbs, I know him. Done a fair few orders with his company Northern Militaria. Nice guy, but does like to talk a bit - cant get the bugger off the phone when you ring him up ![]()

Good , need some more retailors . ! Esp ones we know !
Sod it, why dont we just offer a retailers forum on here - who gives a damn if a discount is offered or not (mind you, in Chris' case, a lot of the stuff he sells apparently comes from the same place as Dickie Underwoods, yet is sold on at a much lower price - so its discounted massively already)
And whilst i remember, how much hassle would it be to do a "news page" that we can update - Airsoft-news.eu style?

It doesn't have to be a discount - just offer something back for the free advertising. He may not be arsed anyway - retailers threads only work if they are active, take a look at those on ASCUK and elsewhere who don't answer queries for weeks!
As for a news page - what news? Don't mind putting one on the forum, locked so no blabbing. Can request that news items can be PM'd to one of us so that we can vet and make sure links and pics are sorted.
But, there is nothing worse than a 'News' section on a site or forum that is out of date, not updated or the last new was six months ago.

Oh wel that answerts that question - reply from Chris
Hi Guy
The position I'm in at moment is most of my kit is sold with very little profit margin added. I started selling beacuse I was spending a lot of time on the internet looking at the stuff, saw what retailers here in the UK were charging people, knew what manufacturers were producing the stuff for and though heres an opportunity to make a litle extra cash and save people some money.
Things like the complete uniform packages were put together to appeal to people staring out in re-enacting. A one stop shop that saved them shopping around all over. Good quailty kit in one go that got you out to events. The only thing they needed to supply was their weapon of choice. A 5-10% discount would actually mean I make very little. I'm no saint. I like to try and help people getting started but the price I charged also made it worth while. I'm not like a lot of other suppliers whos mark up on products would allow them to easliy make a 10% discount.
Problem number 2 is that a lot of my sales are made through the Pg.net site and a lot of those guys are now taking an interest in airsoft and coming across to this forum. If I offered a discount here I'd have to do the same there otherwise they might run me through with a bayonet at my next event
On some items discounts could be possible.I recently started selling AGM MP40's for £90.00 The price saved people a little bit of money compared to other retailers and also gave me a bit of pocket money. These could possibly be sold for £85.00 through the forum but at the moment the suppliers won't send the bloody things out anyway due to the new regulations that have come into place.
Selling the kit I sell gives me a buzz. I love trying to find new suppliers and putting together different packages for people. the moneys not the most important thing but now adays every little helps. Any advice you can give I'm always very gratefull for.Cheers
Chris

A nice reasoned response there!
He doesn't actually say whether he would be interested in being in a retailer's section. If he doesn't want to then fine, move the post to 'Sales' and add {Retailer} to the post title and all will become apparent to the reader.
I don't mind retailers being in that thread as long as it's clear who is who.

Probably would benefit us more than him ot have him as a retailer , we could do with an Allied one as well.
No point unless he participates - see my post previous.

He seems keen to do so from PM's , so have set up an area to stop him clogging up every other thread . if it's unused after a while we can delete it otherwise we need a decent Brit or US supplier ot match ![]()
Im all for a retailors section with or wihtout discounts.
