Ok, so this is what i've been quietly up to for the last god knows how long. It's taken several months, instead of weeks of my time, and a hell of a lot of effort, and i'm still not sure it's firing straight as i've got no distance to test it over, but here you go...

Why an SMLE and not a No4, you might ask? Mainly as it's based on the Denix replica SMLE, so i can cut, machine and butcher to my heart's content without worrying about any Section 5 offences. It's taken considerably more machining than i'd have liked, and it's a safe bet to say that i'll not be making any more of these!
It's based on a cheapsoft MP001, but i've replaced the bolt-handle with a completely machined new one, as i wasn't happy with the original's look. As for the rest, it's got a real sight (yes i know it's set for a range of about a mile, the paint was still damp underneath!) but pretty much everything else is off the Denix.
I hope to be bagging myself some Hun with it at Husky. ![]()
Tis a beauty!
wow DM that looks fantastic - can't wait to have a look at Husky. Congrats
Amazing work, DM. Looks beautiful.
I have so much respect for all you guys who can make these guns - I have difficulty enough changing a battery! ![]()

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
awesome... truely awesome...
(will you make me one please... ) ![]()
oo... just noticed a mistake... easily rectified...
The front swivel should be the piling type not a standard sling one. i.e. it should have a gap in it.
See I'm a swivel nazi as well.. ![]()
Otherwise, WOW!
awesome... truely awesome...
(will you make me one please... )
I like you Rich, but no!
Lets just say, for the hours it's cost me to make one, if you were paying the going rate for my services (ooer!) it'd have cost over a grand, including parts.
and that's not including the cuts, splinters, welding burns and prolific amount of swearing involved.

The front swivel is the one that came with the denix gun, and i think it's just crimped into a recess, with the crimp holding it in place, so might be tricky to alter.
Plus you won't see it with a sling on it! ![]()
nah. the front one is for "piling" i.e. when you put 3 or 4 smles together in a little tripod type thing.
Like in this pic:

hmmm I can't afford a grand ...
I am looking forward to seeing it in the flesh though!

Ah, i see what you mean. Will have to see how it fits on later and see if it's feasible to alter, i'd not really looked at it as it was already there and non-essential to the conversion
hmmm I can't afford a grand
Thank god for that, the terror was rising as i thought you might actually want one! ![]()
VERY nice work DM, a true "one off". I wouldn't worry about "piling arms", seeing as noone else has an SMLE to pile against!

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Nice.... ![]()

That's a very valid point.
However, i don't want to feel left out when the inevitable flood of chinese cheapsoft Enfields appear now i've just finished!
Awesome mate.
Truly awesome work.

DM that looks superb, I remember ages ago that you mentioned you were gonna build one from a Denix, time very well spent bud. If you knew the contact details for a Chinese factory you could sell the design to them so they could clone it. ![]()
What a fantastic piece of work, I'm really impressed with what you've achieved and ever so slightly envious! You created something really unique and special there.

Wow, just seen this thread - Liking your work, DM!

Interested in how you made bolt made. As like you say, the one you get on the rifle is a not really the ticket.
basically it's 3 seperate bits of metal, the ball, the angled 'arm' and the circular piece that fits on the back of the bolt, milled/turned into shape, then welded together and ground down. it was the single most complicated part of the gun to make.
Sadly, at husky, it was suffering a BB mis-feed problem, so it didn't see action last weekend. I think i know the cause, but didn't have the tools to solve it there.
On the upside, yesterday i ordered the metal tube to make a start on the sten(s) ![]()
