Hi all!
This was inspired by zbear's MG42 and slick63's mg34. Again, it's not 100% but it looks the part.
Parts used: AK47, ver3 gearbox, 1 1/2" PVC for the barrel shroud, 2"PVC for the receiver, AK c-mag
Used Sintra board for the top cover and Buttstock.

Here are the humble beginnings...

Apparently, the AK has a weird angle between the barrel and the receiver (part of the reason i don't like the AK). The don't follow a straight line, making it necessary to place the AK receiver at an angle inside the PVC receiver. The AK reciever is secured inside the 2inch PVC via friction fit + superglue + epoxy + securing tabs. It won't break or come loose unless you smash it to bits intentionally. Connecting the barrel shroud to the receiver is the flared end section of the 2"PVC tube

I've made the butt stock out of laminated 3mm Sintra (PVC foamboard). Applied putty and sanded the butt stock.

Test fitting...
I made the top cover out of Sintra board (PVC foam board). I cut it, heated and folded it to the right shape. For the part that it attatches to in the receiver, i also cut that out of sintra and glued it to the PVC. I used a cut inner barrel for the hinge.

The cone for the flashider came from a large spool of thread from a tailor shop.

The holes are a little smaller than i wanted. I only have a dremel so these are the largest i could make em. The front sight was hacksawed from a HK416 gasblock, the rear sight is a cannibalized Kar98 rearsight modified with some sheet sytrene. Rear sight is fully adjustable for elevation. Bipod is from an HKG3SG1.

Almost done...

Done! It's only 2 inches longer and 1/4th inch wider than the real thing (to preserve proportions) but it's huge, up to mid chest. Landsers must have been really tall back then.

You can also build this using steel/aluminum tubing if you have the tools for it.

Stunning

If only I had seen this before spending 500 euros on a Zib?

Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.

Beautiful piece or work, a lot better than my effort :good:
A couple of questions, the nut looking things, there`s one on the end of the barrel and one of the stock, what are these ? and where did you get them? are they pvc ? The flares on the pipe, does the pvc pipe come with these or did you have to form them? Must admit I haven`t nosed at pipeing in B+Q for a long while. How stiff is the whole thing, must admit when I built mine I was worried about it snapping in half when I picked it up (it didn`t, but because of the length it`s was on my mind at the time)
Cheers :good:

Fantastic job - maybe even i could make one - although that would mean i would have to move over to the dark side.

Thanks! The best part of this build is that it's extremely cheap, looks the part, and you can build it at home with a dremel and ordinary hand tools. But again, i wish i had the skills to do it in steel or aluminum (like the amazing Jay/Graeme CNC MG34).

@slick63 - It's actually very sturdy. I've skirmished with it several times. It won't break unless you smash it to bits on purpose or maybe if you fell on it. (It is only plastic after all). It doesn't wobble or anything when you run/jump etc. It shoots great and loud. It's also been hit by bbs and there is no damage. Of course it would be much more secure if it were made in steel or aluminum. To answer your questions, the huge nut things at the ends are PVC fittings. Usually PVC tubing comes with one flared end (to enable you to connect the pipes end to end).

@rammix - I just used measurements from the TK409.com MG34 tutorial site

Great job! I have one question to start with, is the inner barrel extended to the flashhider? how was it attached to the AK body?

Yup, the inner barrel reaches almost up to the booster cone. It's a 650mm psg1 length inner barrel. It's attached to the ak body the same way a normal inner barrel is. It's secured within a long aluminium outer barrel with electric tape spacers. The long outerbarrel is secured within the barrel shroud at two points: Where it joins the ak outerbarrel and secured within the booster cone.
