Laying down plans to make an M1 carbine from the M14 platform, found myself with conflicting measurements, so I bought an AGM springer version to copy from, can’t remember exactly how much I paid for it, but around the £68 mark.
Quite a good attempt I think from AGM, some metal parts, but mainly plastic. Upon firing this probably would only do between 10&14 meters before nose diving the pellet to the ground, no matter what you did with the hop, this wasn’t going to work.
Never mind I thought, didn’t buy it to use, just to copy from and probably cannibalise the the thing anyway..........but I just had to take it apart to see why this piece of poop didn’t work properly! Now there’s not a lot inside of these at all, which didn’t surprise me, but the action does work quite well and it’s easy to rack up the loading, the hop was the whole problem here. Just doesn’t adjust enough on the snail wheel......so I took it out, made a little aluminium bridge piece, and did a tdc conversion on it.
Now the hop works, hasn’t affected the fps ( around 280- 290) but spun the pellets up nicely so put some .25’s through it, was much better doing easily 30 meters before a slight rise, so in went some . 32’s a good result here! This stupid little plastic pop gun is doing 40 meters easy! Nice and straight too! Will work out later exact distance. Quite accurate too will whack a beer tin at 30 meter four out of five times.
So I’m going to keep this now as a back up.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

The last pic show my modification, and the snail wheel and ratchet that doesn’t work. I think they would probably have sold more of these if they had used a better hop.

I`ve had one of these for quite a while, I imported mine when they first came out. They could`ve sold more if a UK retailer had got their finger out when they were first available, the first time I saw one in a UK online shop was three years after I imported mine.
You might have had a duffer as mine worked flawlessly out of the box (except for a barrel clean).
Only two things which annoyed me, one was the weird little mag loading thing (easy to lose). Two, they should`ve done the M1 with the short mag and no bayonet lug.
Other than that it`s one of the nicest airsoft guns I`ve ever owned.
