Almost ready ex-Shoei MG42. Original mechanism just didn't work almost at all, and owner of that gun asked could I find some way to put any mechabox inside. I said yes, of course. Magazine is made of original model drum and an old TOP-manual winding drum. Battery will be outside of gun, and later a custom made battery, inside of the drum. Feel free to guess, what mechabox is inside.

Someone is a very, very, very lucky man! I'd sell my back teeth for a Shoei MG42! Nice job. Gearbox looks like an AK to me, maybe even an AUG.

Nice. I would guess its a P90 gearbox.

P90 is correct. Hop-up chamber is also from P90, a bit modified. Mechabox is only temporary, custom made steelbox based to P90-box, is now under construct. ROF is much more closer to realsteel-MG than Shoeis original. And it was really fun to make.

Again, very nice work. I've tried finding a Shoei to convert and they are just so hard to come by (and ridiculously expensive as well).

With hind-sight, I really wish I hadnt sold mine a couple of years back :slap:

At the time I needed the cash, twin babies are very expensive.

AK boxes and AUG boxes are both the same: - Ver3!

Apparently from what I've read on the US forum the AK and AUG motors are set at different angles and the AUG fits the MG42 grip but the AK doesn't.

Nah, the angle is the same. The AUG has a more robust motor support/mount than the usual AK/G36 (the AK/G36 is thinner but longer to provide adequate support to the motor while fitting inside a grip) , but still the same ver3 box. This is bizzare as I'd have thought the AK/G36 would be a more likely choice than the AUG as the AUG's motor mount, thought shorter, is rather fat.

The reason why I picked up p90-box, is that I didn't want to make all new grip to MG. As said, most of boxes have wrong motor angle, and they are just too fat to fit inside original grip. For p90-box I had to cut off part of grip, but even that was better choice than make a new one.

Little update: MG has now electric winding partly custom-made inner parts in drum magazine and also custom-made machined aluminium hop-up chamber. Works better than with P90-hop-up chamber ;-). It will also have next winter a new, CNC-machined steel gearbox.
