I would suggest you dont go near Sutlers unless it is your very last resort.
They are as likely to stiff you as send the kit.
Also renown for promising delivery dates and then being as much as 12 months out.
The replica they sell is the Denix model, it is available from other suppliers.
Go elsewhere unless you really MUST have one, then call and check they have stock and get a written[e-mail] estimate of delivery date. Dont pay for anything until you are as sure as you can be it is ready to ship. Better still, visit them and collect in person.
If I remember the Denix is not constructed like a real Lee Enfield and would require much wood and metal working to fit airsoft innards.

You can pick the real deal pieces up probably as cheaply as a Dennix replica anyway if you look hard enough. There are various eBay sellers who regularly have the woodwork on sale, or be patient and wait for a militaria fair. Most of what I bought for mine came from eBay apart from the magazine that I got from Henry Crank. I think I've spent about £120 in total buying bits. I probably could have done it cheaper if I'd tried.
As for actually making it, I've outsourced that to a mate who is a professional carpenter. He does post on here occasionally as well but the main thing we've learned from building is that he based his on a VSR clone while mine is being made from a Marui VSR and apparently the Marie is a little larger than the Chinese copies so it's proving harder to fir into the original woodwork. But as I'm not doing it myself I can't tell you much more than that !
I pinched Sandy's idea and put a KJW M700 in SMLE Mk1 woodwork. It fits nicely in that the magazine is in the same place but it is gas which is not to everyone's taste. Here's Sandy's thread, his is finished to a far higher standard than mine:

I'm currently repeating but with No4 woodwork. On hold at the moment until the end of January but hopefull will be able to restart and have ready for Arnhem.
In all Lee Enfield projects with original woodwork I think the main problem is joining the Butt to the stock.
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
looks to me like its a dummy mag near the trigger and the real one is further foreward like a standard vsr.i'd be wary of getting a gun with a less mainstream design as if it breaks then it can mean trouble finding parts.i think the only option for haveing the mag in the right place is kj works m700 gas rifle or have the mag further foreward in the vsr style.haveing said all that its a little fiddly fitting vsr stuff in smle woodwork as the forestock is quite shallow where a vsr mag would go.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
:slap: thanks for that brud! vsr it is then!
No problem if you are making a No.4 but be careful if you are making an SMLE, as Dadio says the woodwork on the SMLE is very narrow at the point where you will need to put the magazine .
The Snow wolf M24's mag is further forward, like the vsr clones. The red arrow in the pic is pointing to the dummy mag. Unless snow wolf has a new gas m24 out.
VSR11 and make it fit real No.4 parts. Going to be the best way mate imho.
the breech (part the bolt sits in )on an l96 is the wrong shape and will need a lot of work to make it no4 ish,my first no4 was based on an l96 and i had to use a lath to re-shape the breech, allso the cocking handle is way too big and has a bend pointing it back.if you have the skill and tooling to do it then an l96 would be ok but otherwise i still think the vsr rought is easier.

all I need is to get my hands on a de act! but bare with me
What for? Dismantling it for the parts would be illegal.
Don't go messing with de-acts, you might get in to trouble.
There are plenty of original parts ( woodwork, sights, bands, trigger guard etc., on eBay or www.thegunner.net)

I don't believe so, it would only be illegal to tamper with the deactivation, so if you remove the reciever & barrel in their deactivated state It would probably be ok, however looking at the price of Lee-enfield de-acs £350+ it would be cheaper to buy the component parts, which you should be able to get for £150 to £200.
Try these people http://www.ds-solutions.co.uk/ don't be put off that there's not a lot listed, if you email them with a list of the parts you want they should be able to sort you out, I bought a load of Lee Enfield parts off them at Beltring last year, most of which wasn't listed on their site, and at a much better price than I'd anticipated .
