Hey all, a wee question from an import noob;

I tracked my parcel (my MP001 from Gunner) and apparently it has been sitting in Heathrow since yesterday 'Held by Customs-awaiting instruction from receiver'. What's my next step, is it now going to be taxed and how do I go about paying it?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Generally you have to wait until they contact you, it sounds like they may want verification of the cost of the item, I think they have trouble believing these guns only cost

the delivery company will contact you for some information (sometimes just a couple of things, sometimes they want to know "everything" including fps and unit value) and then depending on who is shipping it they will request the money to be sent before the kit is released. Or in some cases its released and you have to pay the taxes on reciept in cash or cheque.

it should be 17.5% of the total, sometimes that includes the delivery total aswell depending on how "professional" the company is you bought from.

if the gun is firing above 380 fps.. you're in trouble

What does he mean by the last sentence - if it's over 380fps?

Dont worry about it. MP001 is a bolt action jobby. Perfectly legal to import up to 12 ft/lb (~1325 FPS with a 0.2J) bolty's. Shooting people at that level however, is definately NOT a good idea ;)

Full auto over 1.35J however, is a little more "interesting".

edit

That "geezer" is talking complete arse about the costings. The reality of importation is as follows:

1: Duty leveled on the cost of the goods AND the shipping (tarif depends on the nature of the goods) - Airsoft is 5% IIRC.

2: VAT (at 17.5%) paid on the TOTAL (yes, double taxation - you're paying VAT on the DUTY as well as the cost of the goods and the shipping!)

3: "Clearance fee" charged by many couriers for the luxury of them paying the customs charges on your behalf to expedite the delivery to you. They then charge you a huge amount for this "service" you didnt request.

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Ah, cool. Thanks Kermit.

2 minutes after posting that question up, I rechecked the TNT website, and the gun is back in transit. :)

I'm a big fan of Frank & the guys at Firesupport and have bought at least three proper AEGs and a couple of pistols of them . I can't but help feel they've missed the point of AGM with this offering though .

I agree, for the price they are charging is huge. I love the HK AGM price - if it breaks, buy a new one and it's not huge hardship.

Dont talk too soon mate, sometimes it can take a few months for a bill to come through, not all shipping companys do Payment before/on delivery.

I got a TNT bill from when I got my M4RIS (sorry for swearing) about 4 months after I had got it, I had since played with it and sold it on at this point!

I'll keep an eye out, thanks.

Had a chance to test the MP001 last night, and I must say I'm impressed. The gun is solid (apart from a loose cocking handle), light powerful and accurate. The hop isn't set yet, but down my hall I put two shots through the same hole, into the same dent in the wall, which is 6mm in diameter and about 7mm deep! I think when it's set up correctly, and I have irons, it'll be a cracking gun.

Oh, and the wood effect is the best I've seen.

Just another point to mention, you rarely get a guarantee for airsosft guns purchased from HK, so if they arrive and theyre broken or they break through use theyre often not covered.

The first thing I do is take them apart & re build them, once the screwderivers come out the guarantee goes out the window, people say leave the gun alone but most ACMs are fairly shoddy inside, full of grease, the wrong type, shims missing, parts missing, compare the

Yeah but that is based on buying the guns from china that are worth less than the shirt I'm wearing (its a Marks and Spencers 1 by the way) What I am saying is, sometimes if u buy from HK, and the thing is completely shagged, its not like u can easily send it back, without it costing what you've just paid for it in the 1st place! Hardly Coveit emptor, but more of a logistical nightmare getting it sorted.

And RSOV didnt replace my Chinasoft SCAR L which worked for 20 minutes and broke. :(
