I have one and its pretty good. Fits on the rifle too. I think Webby is planning to make some as well though.

I didn't try the Fieldwerks one (because with postage it came to the same amount as a real one), but I did get another one similar to it. Unfortunately, it snapped in the cold weather, so I went and bought a real one instead. (Obviously, it's just used for show.)

Yep ruled out the first one as the postage I think they quoted was for a mark IV tank!
Never thought about it braking in cold weather but that is something to think about. A real one would be nice but do you allow such things in the game? Most sites state Rubber or plastic so that is what prompted my topic?

Perhaps the thought of someone casting one for a reasonable price would field dividends with so many members.

I think we went down this route - Bedsnherts investigated getting some done, but they came up rather expensive.

As regards whether real ones are allowed - dunno really. I never remove mine from the scabbard.

I think Webby was looking about getting a bulk order from FieldWerks as they also do some nice Allied rubber replicas as well.

I was after an M1 bayonet, a M3 dagger and an FS Dagger.

At Worthing if it's a private game then there's not a problem with wearing a real or repro bayonet, as it will be for show only. I wouldn't like them to be worn on open days, as it can give mixed messages to other more impressionable airsofters. That's just us though, I think the rules are very site specific, if in doubt, best just to ask.

US M3 for me please. that's if it's legal for under 18's to buy these, but if not then my dad will be carrying out the transaction.

Now a 'namsofter. I have an M72 L.A.W. for sale for 110 posted, PM if interested.

I used to make live roleplay weapons for a living many years ago, and still do occasionally now. They don't come out quite as accurately as the ones on the Fieldworks ones because they are constructed from foam and carved into shape rather than cast, however I am starting up again on playing around with casting in expanding foam so I might have a play. Also, LARP weapons need to be safe enough to actually hit people with ! That said, they don't have to look like pipe lagging wrapped round a block of wood.

I made a few test WW2 weapons a few weeks ago and the results were OK. You could tell what they were meant to be (FS, KaBar and an Enfield bayonet), but I wasn't happy with most of the results. The dimensions were sightly wrong and the finish wasn't brilliant because I am out of practice. That said, I did an FS knife and shoved it in my old sheath and stuck it on my webbing belt, and last month at Fireball I got hauled up for having a "real" knife in the game zone :) So the results can't be all that bad. I'll post some pics at some point when the workshop isn't sub-zero.

As for the Fieldworks ones being "rubber" - resin isn't rubber. The resin blades will be prone to snapping and can be sharpened up to pretty much as pointy as a real steel one (although it won't keep it's blade). However it will be sharp and rigid enough to be dangerous, so I can imagine a lot of places not liking them much.

first, sorry to drag an old post up, but, has anyone had any luck with a rubber/plastic K98 bayonet yet besides the ones from FieldWerks?

I've got to do a run of hardened rubber stage props soon so I may have a tinker with some leftover materials as I'm looking to stop my M3 distorting in the scabbard. I should be able to rustle up a K98 bayonet from somewhere.
