Just seen on Arnies that there is a clone of the VFC BAR under development. Manufacturer as yet unknown but it will be V7 gearbox and come with the bipod and carry handle which (apparently) the VFC does not.

Might go for a Belgium load-out.
Already spoke to the supplier about this. Was waiting to get some more details about internals and better pics. Sounds like it could be a real bargin as well going on the prices I've been quoted. Hopefully due for release early 2010.
er... home guard?

Strange decision to make this and not a Garand. ![]()

Strange decision to make this and not a Garand.
That's because they're cloning it Andy. Noone makes a mass market Garand for the Chinese to copy. I know it's great that we've got cheap MP44's, Stens, Thompsons, etc but, if the Chinese are going to copy these guns and sell them at half the price of the guns they're cloned from, sooner or later, manufacturers like VFC and Marui will question why they pour millions into R&D, tooling and manufacturing, only for the Chinese to copy it and make it with cheap labour for half the price. Obvious exclusions from this are the MP40 and the upcoming PPSH41, which are rare innovations (rather than imitations) from the Chinese.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Thing with the Garand though is it's so bloody irritating because they already half make one, in the form of the M14, only difference being some very minor changes to the mag release and a different front end. The rear sight is the same, dimensions for the stock are the same (other than to the odd person who can notice the slight difference) trigger and trigger guard, same, cocking slide, same.
That's why it's so bloody astonishing that they haven't brought one out, it must be obvious that if they did they'd have the entire US WW2 Airsoft community biting their arm off for one.

alex, the stock sizes are completely different.
and, i think the main reason why they wont do it is because of the magazine situation.

Yes there needs to be some VERY clever thought put into the magazine...
could use something similar to the marushin, with the lip on the magazine.

Well, if amateurs (albeit skillful ones) can come up with converting shotgun mags to fit flush, surely a company could solve the problem?!

Well yes, but every AEG up till now has had a realistic magazine, this means we should really be putting the mags in the top of the gun, not the bottom.
In some ways the Garand is actually more like a bolt action rifle.
Also, I'd hate it if they came up with a magazine which didn't fit in the standard US cartridge belt!
Oh and then of course there's the issue that the Garand is semi-auto only so there needs to be thought put into handling gearbox lock-ups...
Quite a bit more to do than what is needed for the BAR.
Considering most AEGs pick up the rounds from a tube into the magazine, top-loading would be a problem.
But if something more like a GBB pistol was used, it could go in the top.
Best bet for a "properly-loading" Garand would probably be some form of EBB or GBB.
And a GBB already exists, but is a pain in the arse.
EBB's are generally shit. I'll show you my M9 sometime and you can have a laugh at it.
