Had a lot of time on my hands since coming out of hospital, so I unearthed my Mosin project and got on with it. It's based on a fully upgraded TM VSR 10 pro sniper, with the full monty of PSS10 parts fitted, plus a repro PU scope and mount.

Still a fair bit of work to do yet, such as fitting front and rear iron sights, fitting a cutdown real steel cocking piece, a longer trigger and general tidying up and cosmetic work. BUT, it works! :good: I'll give it a trial run at Operation Lightning to shake it down.

Looking good Pete. :good: Do you plan to put a proper bolt handle on it?

I've tried to find a proper bolt handle but no joy. From my reseach, it looks like I'd struggle to get it to fit anyway, as the bolt handle is not seperate like a K98 but part of a much bigger piece. I'm going to satisfy myself by adding the cut down cocking piece and painting the bolt assembly silver, which should make it much more "Mosin like". I've also got to persuade my Bro' to weld the front sight onto a steel outer barrel for me, as I just don't want to take the risk of gluing it on. I'll do some more on it tomorrow to get it looking a bit better cosmetically ready fro sunday.

You can get bolt handles that fit on to the bolt. One of the US sellers of PU scopes on ebay has the sniper version.

Tht looks fantastic, mate. Must dig out my mosin project and have another look at it now. I was going to put an MP001 in it, but the SMLE's made me want to smash the frigging things, so i'll be dropping a decent VSR into it too.

If and when i get round to it, i'll be fab'ing a couple of bolt handles out of mild steel, (std and sniper version), so if i think about it, i'll knock up a spare if you're after one? could be a while though, the stens are the current major project.

Cheers mate, a bolt handle would be fab'. I lack the tools to do it for myself and, unfortunately I can't really bodge it either!

I've just fitted the cocking piece and painted the bolt handle, cut down and fitted the cleaning rod and it looks better now. Also araldited the rear sight on and put some milliput round it, which is drying as I type. Once I get it sanded and painted, I'll put some more photos up.

Sanded down the milliput on the rear sight and painted it to match, also found a long enough bolt to attach the cocking piece without having to glue it. All it needs now is the front sight welding on and the trigger extending, which will have to wait a few days. It shoots pretty well and I've left the hop adjustment lever off, as it involved taking too much wood away. To adjust the hop, it's just a case of removing the front handguard, adjusting, then refitting the handguard. The added bonus with this is that the hop can't get knocked once it's set.-- attachment is not available --

Now got the front iron sight welded to a suitable steel outer barrel and got that fixed in place, also found a longer trigger for it. It's shooting really nicely now as well (it bloody well should do, the amount of money I spent on PSS10 parts!).
