Not my latest project but a potentially VERY exciting, commercially made prospect! I've been having an email conversation with one of my "contacts" in the far east and he's very keen for me to find out what sort of demand there'd be for these guns, as I've been bending his ear about them for a while, particularly the Enfield.

They should be around the price of a Tanaka gas rifle and on a par, if not better than, for quality (we're not talking cheap, chinasoft knock offs here). It all depends on what materials get used, ie, steel receivers would cost more, etc.

I'm sending him some stock parts and sights, plus drawings and photos of the receivers and bolts. Fingers crossed that this comes off and I don't get left with egg on my face!

Not WW2, but he's also working on a gas/CO2 WA2000, SVD and PSG1.

Sounds excellent to me. Would it be an M91/30 or M38 MN? A gas M38 would be very nice next to my M91/30 (if I ever get it finished).

Count me in for a No4, I'm fed up of automatics and would love to be able to use a bolt action in games

"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

I'd lean towards spring for reliability and being able to use it on regular sites.

Some places are less than open minded about gas rifles because the FPS can intentionally or unintentionally fluctuate by a lot.

I mentioned spring versions but they're adamant it's going to be high quality, well made gas rifles. I don't think that the fps will fluctuate too badly, as they'll be fitted with very good hop units and tightbore barrels as standard. It may be high fps but it should be very consistent as well.

I`d still like an affordable off the shelf springer. Whilst they will be high quality the price is going to be high as well. I can`t justify spending out on a Tanaka and I feel that there are probably a few people in the same boat, so what should be the most common weapon in WW2 ends up being a masterpiece that only a few can/will purchase. But having said that, fair play to them, if they are good quality then someone will buy them, beggars can`t be choosers. 8)

A PCS bolt, a la some of the Tanaka M700 range might be a good idea, allowing you to fine tune the FPS (MUCH better system than the G-Spec system used on the Tanaka K98)

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

I've suggested that to him Kermit, as it would allow the guns to be sold anywhere in the world. The UK market is, after all very small compared to some. I had to send photos of what a Lee Enfield looks like to show them what it was ffs!

As long as its 6mm... FPS can be reliably dropped to 350fps I'd get one provided the price was not mental.

Thanks for the offer mate but these will be full on replicas, like Tanaka guns, rather than being cobbled together from existing guns. They'll have realistic receivers, bolts, stocks, etc.

It's a while away yet chaps, I should imagine prototyping and tooling will take some time. I was asked to gauge interest and it appears that it's at a good level. For any doubters, they will be 6mm and, as I said, at LEAST as good as Tanaka rifles. I'll update as and when there are any developments. I've already sorted out a potential UK distributor for them as well (it's not me!). :good:

I've also now been asked for "plans" for the M1 Garand sniper. I've politely replied that it's not a good idea BUT that a good, aeg "proper"garand would be, rather than a farby sniper one and suggested that they use the Marushin Garand as a measuring unit. Fingers crossed, eh?

I'd go for an off-the-shelf wooden stock and body Garand AEG in a second, as long as the price was reasonable.
