That's not too dissimilar to the mags I made for my PPSH 2 years ago! I wonder if they copied my design?

Read the thread and I'm still in a muddle. Which is best and who is now, as we type, selling them in the UK ?

Finally got to see the HP PPSH-41 in the flesh today and first impressions are this :

The whole gun is competely solid.

It is very easy to disassemble/maintain with it's simplistic design.

The mag inside the well is solid.

The gun is front-heavy, but didn't have a battery in the rear when I held it, so that might change things for the better.

It's a bugger to hold comfortably with your non-trigger hand. Ergonomics were not invented back then. I found the best place was behind the mag.

From reading Frenchie's review in Recon Rag 1) the hop-rubber needs replacing straight away to improve range dramatically, 2) a lip on the top of the mag needs filed ever so slightly to avoid chafing in the magwell [easy fix] 3) The mag internals need modifying to sort any misfeeds, but that involves the internals from an M4/M16 mag and should be reasonably easy to sort.

I want one.

So the mag is not sorted out yet, so I will hold off for a while.
Yes all the PPSH41 are way front heavy the real one is and adding the small battery won't change it much.
However you get used to it, but I am glag I used thiner steel to balance it out more.

It is implied that AW commissioned it. If that's the case, it's not unreasonable to recover the cost. Part of their agreement to allow the manufacturer to sell the design to others could be UK exclusivity for at least a while.

I won't mind paying the "extra" £50, as at least I have someone to send it back to, should it lunch the gearbox after 2 weeks.

To be honest i've never liked exclusivity agreements...

Sometimes it's either have it that way, or not at all.

Besides, I would think even with the "premium" it'd undercut Viva...

Are you sure you would save as much as £50 anyway after the tax and customs charges, more like £15 maybe :?:

I got to shoot the HP PPSH-41 the other week and see the owner using it.

It feels nice to shoot, with a decent ROF and power, but the hop is pretty average range-wise and needs improved with a better nub & rubber I would say.

One huge issue was the mag..........it refused to be wound anywhere near full capacity. It kept letting go after a few winds, every single time. The owner had to wind it, shoot, wind it again, shoot, wind it again etc etc............very poor for a £250 gun. I don't know what the problem was, but hopefully it's been fixed by now. Basically it made the gun, pretty useless to skirmish with and put me right off.

You need to bear in mind those HP PPSHs are only one stage beyond prototypes.
