Hopefully, this will serve to alert those who have just put orders for guns in at RSOV.
I ordered a CYMA Thompson and a few other bits & bobs from RSOV a while ago. The parcel arrived in the UK on 3rd September. Since then, it has been held for "customs charging". After FINALLY getting through on the phone to speak to someone about this, I was informed that I have to wait for them to decide just how much they are going to charge me. The worst bit is, they say they will send a letter, NOT phone or email me. This means a few MORE days before I know their fee.
For anyone who is running it a bit close to 1st October with their orders, just be aware that the Parcelfarce "customs charging" process will delay it all by about a week (at least) after it arrives in the UK.
The only bit of good news is that I can pay the fees over the phone and set my own delivery date for it, so at least I'll be here when it arrives and won't have to trog to Shrewsbury depot to fetch it.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
When i orderd my MP40 i got a letter saying i had to pay £18,hopefully it wont be higher for my Thompson i orderd about 2 weeks ago! Just looked at the tracking thing and it has arrived and is pending customs inspection.
If its passed 9 there is a 95% chance im pissed.
Just found out one of my orders from RSOV is waiting for custom charges!!
Guess I'll have to wait for the letter ![]()

You're getting fobbed off. It's a VERY simple calculation.
5% Duty on the cost of the items and shipping.
17.5% VAT on the lot.
There is something else afoot here methinks...

My order has been sitting since the 4th as well! ![]()
I ordered 7 guns from Gunner on Friday, I selected the TNT option and they tried to deliver, (no one in), yesterday.
Edit:
I was informed that I have to wait for them to decide just how much they are going to charge me.

An interesting point, as you've paid for them you 'own' the guns and as they are in the country they are already 'imported' so the fact that HM C&E have your legally owned property in their care does not give them the right to seize, of course if they do the only way you're going to get them back is by fighting them through the courts ![]()

Aye, they can't seize and destroy them - you will have the opportunity to establish that you are entitled to import them and prove your defence and in any case if they take you to court the goods need to be kept as evidence
.
The question really is how do you prove your defence? The 'three skirmishes' rule is only an criteria set up to establish a UK site/retailer database and not directly related to imported privately. So I guess you are going to need documentary evidence, whatever you can get your hands on - photos, site membership card, site receipts. And if they don't accept whatever you can provide then I suppose you have a choice - throw the towel in and let them destroy them, let them prosecute you and argue the toss in court, go through whatever appeals procedure they have (if any!) or force the issue yourself in court. None of which sounds very appealing.
In the short term it's very hard to see an easy way to import RIFs, practically speaking.

Lets hope my large consignment gets through

I think we might have a solution to future problems with HMRC here - get Barcy's mum onto 'em. ![]()

Well, still no letter from HMC or Parcelfarce. Getting a bit peed off that it's been held now for longer than it took to get here from the far east! I've never had a package held before and I've ordered thousands of pounds worth of stuff over the years from Hong Kong, etc.
