I bought one from Airsoft World. Initial impressions were good, pretty solid and realistic when assembled.
I did however have (and still do occasionally) have issues with the blooming loading door on the mag! first time I used it it opened easy but would the thing shut! loads of swearing and then it slid back like it was teflon coated!
I have changed the hop rubber and nub to a madbull blue and H and it now shoots sweet.
Using an 11.1V lipo the rate of fire is damn good and the range is 60m+ easy, its not the most accurate, but it is supposed to be for suppressed fire cover. I've only used it once in a game but it definitely had plenty of kills and will be getting used a lot more this year.

Hi I'm now a mg42 owner but want to downgrade any chance of a photo guide to how the qd spring works on it or have I got to completely strip down ?

This pic shows the buttstock removed and top cover open.

The small lever in the top of the gearbox holds the spring guide in the gearbox.
Press the circular spring guide into the grearbox by a mm or so and hold firm.
Press the lever on the top. (I think you press it down rather than lift it up but it has been a while)
This will release the spring, so take care.

Remove and replace the spring and reassemble. Job done.

Looking for some help.
Used the MG 42 on a couple of games with pleasure. At the last game the mag started coming off easily. While running it fell off and ripped the cable connection for the mag feed off (see picture).
Any experience with this problem of the loose mag ? If yes, how did you solve this?
Any idea how I can fix the ripped cable connection?
Thanks.

Lutz,
I had a similar problem with my MG42, the Mag came loose and I managed to bend one of the contacts in the connector, but I swapped them over to Deans style connectors, and that's worked pretty well, all that happens now is the spring comes out of the plastic casing.

Mine has had a few niggles but its one of the most reliable guns I have so far. The issue now is mine is about 7 months old and the cheap wiring insulation is starting to split in more places than I care to mention. So I feel a rewire is on the cards :P.

Has anyone else noticed that screws will randomly wiggle free during games?
