Possibly more Allied orientated,

Huh? But surely this is the European rather than Canadian version and so more Axis oriented?

Have you fixed the 4 bb problem?

In what way is this pistol substantially different to Canadian? And wouldn't Allies have a mixture of Belgium made and later Canadian?

Inglis manufactured the fixed rear sight and tangent adjustable rear sight versions of the Browning HP Pistol

Also FN did both as well

Weren't the tangent sight / wood butt ones mostly made for the Chinese market?
I think those are the only differences to the Inglis-made guns, so not exactly "significant" in the grand scheme.

To be honest, I couldn't care less if it's a version made for the outer Mongolian home guard auxilliary balloon corps! Finally, an affordable, skirmishable, full metal Browning! Mine is on the way already and, I can't wait to paw at it.

Happy to be corrected... It's just the only allied pics I'd seen were with what I assumed was the Inglis version with fixed sights, lanyard loop and the ability to fix the stock.

I haven't seen a picture of one in use by ground troop/officers (if someone has any though of either holsters being worn or used I would be keen to see).

There is quite a famous photo [from a series of famous photos] from The Bulge period of some SS grenadiers smoking. One holds a Hi-Power.

MG tool pouch?

Yes, in other photos from that series around Poteau the same guy is seen with an MG42.
It suggests he had the HP as his personal weapon as a Machine Gunner?
Here he and his mates are having an American ciggy.

Once more;

And with the MG42;

I think the soldier has been named, certainly from 1st SS LAH.

So is this the same Browning HP as used by the british army post war? I ask as it would be a good addition to my 70's loadout.

so just to clarify what has already been said say far:

Would this be acceptable to be used for Germans and Brits?

Could it be used by yanks? (except for the normal "battlefield pick ups"?)

Does look nice. Might buy one anyway :whistle:

Could it be used by yanks? (except for the normal "battlefield pick ups"?) Not really, not issued by USArmy but why not if it's a back up in the pocket?

These answers are for those who care. :giggle:

Wikipedia (which is always right :rofl: ) says that OSS used them. It's not exactly every scenario that contains OSS personel, but it might happen.

I would assume that's because they'd be more likely to be able to capture 9mm ammo from the Germans than .45 ACP.
