this question has probably been asked before, but humour me. Mr CW has been doing some very good feed back on the performance of the G&G Kar98 and based upon this information and trying both the G&G and Dboys today i cant bring myself to spend £300 plus on a german rifle when the workmanship or lack of on both just does seem to me to make it worth that kind of money. There are issues with the performance of both weapons, on top of the (my opinion) poor quality of both rifles.
I also had a look at the M14 which i was advised is an excepted alternative - again not overly impressed with the quality, to much plastic.
During (real) battle troops on both sides had limited ammo, therefore if you ran out i am presuming they used any weapon which was laying around, regardless of whether it was from their side or not.
so first is it acceptable for Axis forces to use Allied weapons and vica versa based upon what actually happened and if the answer is yes, which it must be as i have seen pictures of yanks using both mp40 and mg34's and the Germans did use a lot of equipment left at Dunkirk including drafting captured French and British tanks into their ranks.
but how does the community view this during events, is it frowned upon, would it affect others experience and immersion, if i as a german Heer came armed with a Garand or other allied weapon, my feeling is "yes" it wouldnt look right, but if others are using the oppositions weapons i would serious look at getting an Allied rifle.
thanks in advance for your constructive feed back.

while its not ideal to use captured weapons it is not frowned upon in most games,it would look odd to see too many in one squad but one is ok as it did happen.on the subject of allied rifles there is even less choice than german where there are 3 k98's made of different price and quality but allied you have a shoot n scoot or ktw for an enfield or an m14 garand conversion.

It, as with almost all WW2 airsoft, is a question of practicality or pragmatism. In a perfect world each side would have appropriate weapons. When we first started everyone used Thompsons - that's all there was off the shelf beyond home-brew or exotica. Just last week at the rifles only game I was playing Polish but using a K98 as were others - even Yith, the most pernickety of kit perfectionists was playing Polish using a Mosin Nagent!
So, don't worry about it too much, others won't.

Heh, no I was using an SMLE... ![]()
Ed was using my Mosin Nagant!
Anyway, CW is right... Although having the right weapon is always of course preferred, we've never turned our nose up to someone using a weapon from the other side.
Well as long as it's not an MP44 being used by a Tommy in an 1940 game. ![]()
Just shows how much I take notice of gunz people carry (and yeah, silly me, that would have been a step too far for you
). And of course there are limits as Rich points out where it would be better to beg or borrow than be completely incongruous or where a game has specific rules.
And that's why I advocate an M14 as a basis for a first WW2 gun - it can be used as a rifle for all sides with a bit of imagination as a generic wood stocked rifle or with a bit of skill/expence as something more specific. Whereas a Thompson will always be a Thompson and an MP40 will always be an MP40.

thank you gents

Should have been a No.4?

Yup... I did have a No4... but decided that two airsoft enfields was one too many... MartinR has that now.
too many
I have tried that term in several translators in most common languages and it is not recognised. Can you explain it's meaning please?

It means I have a family.
It means I have a family.
So you store one of them in the space left by the No. 4 now, right? ![]()
lol... no it means money is now a consideration. ![]()
i can understand too many children or too many wives but too many rifles is baffling .have you considered selling one of you'r children or are you fond of them?
