It does indeed sound like something has got embedded into the webbing. You could try putting it in the washing machine... see if that gets rid of it....

I've got two pairs of their anklets... I've had no problems getting blanco into them. How are you trying to do it?

The clover leaf hobnails along with edge cleats would have been used on mountain climbing boots of the time. Not sure... I've seen pics of the mounta...
