yup.
Ration cans got, .30 cal made to feed EVEN cooler, Field phones all working, frontier stove gotten for constant coffee ration.
I have never looked forward to freezing my bollocks off more.
Same really looking forward to it going to be late as I got to see a shrink making sure I'm still sane
Looking forward to it, and we might even have some snow!
I may have missed this elsewhere, but what time are people getting there for on Fri?

good point, I had best start my logistics organising for our Yorkshire bunch.

I have the afternoon off and am planning to get there as soon as the gates open at 16:30 so as to get extra light for setting up.
That's the plan anyway...

That's a point - clock go back this weekend so it's going to be dark rather early next Friday
I started looking at webbing and kit this afternoon, and sorting what I have and what I'm missing.
Batteries are the largest missing piece. Need them for my TL-122 and for the trusty Thompson.
Got to investigate tents and food on Monday.
I did discover that the Wood alcohol burner tins I have had for 10 years and are in period looking tins still light and burn quite well. Like these; http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.ph ... -fuel-tins
Uniform is going to be layered. Undershirt and long johns. Wool shirt and mustard trousers. M43 field jacket, perhaps if really cold or for the evenings adding a pile liner with either HBT or M43 trousers. M43 trousers were rather a rare beast in NW Europe for some reason. You see lots in Italy but not many in NWEurope.
Buckle boots and socks, two pairs on my feet and plenty of spares. Wool cap, either Jeep or mechanics, wool scarf, gloves and for rotten weather, a rain coat. Ponchos are easier but again dont show in NWEurope, not until the very end of the war.

Ooooooo! it's SNOWING!! And it's LYING!
Well I was but now the missus has decided that she wants a weekend at a b&b and do some shopping. Problem is she wants to use her car but doesn't want to drive up in 2 cars, so we have to use hers which means I have no car and will need to lug everything with me.......I feel naked without my car.
So question, is their a drinking water supply on site so I don't have to bring water with me?, just the containers.
I always assume a lack of potable water - I'll bring extra to cover your needs Simon, don't bother with containers.
Looking forward to it, and we might even have some snow!

gates open around 4.30 on the friday but i can be there abit sooner as i only live 10min down the road. let me know if you need me to meet you there before 4.30
thanks Mr CW - greatly appreciated.
Buckle boots
I forgot! I have some, not worn them since... Devil's hill? Yipee no fiddly leggings!
Yes, I am rather looking forward to it, even if I'm missing out in the camping on Friday (coming down first thing on Saturday).
Equipment all sorted, including various permutations of greatcoat, webbing etc, guns all sorted and rations lined up. I just need to put my uniform in my game bag, make sure my ankle boots haven't gone mouldy like my jackboots had and charge up some batteries next week.
I'm half getting sorted for the Gothic Line at the same time so the house is piled up with tents and camping gear, and I've re-scrimmed my British helmet.
Cheers
Martin

New OD wool knitted scarf has just arrived, just like the one I lost at Tuddenham years ago. I am disproportionately excited. Giggling in fact. Roll on Friday.
