Anyone know where to get these? I know that Mean & Green do the Aussie ones but I'm after the Brit shade. I need 3 pairs.

3 pairs? are you dressing an insect or something?

A quick search through my bookmarks gives: http://www.denbigharmysurplus.co.uk/arm ... tties.html

I've picked up some camping stuff from them in the past with no problems, can't vouch for their militaria, though.

I'll give them a go. I need to make up some WW1 puttees and apparently sewn-together 'rig'nals don't gape like the repros do

I got a pair of these...

Basically what you intend, but done for me... and a good option since a pair of short putees often goes for a tenner and these ones are less than the price of two short pairs.

Hmm - flexi wool. Do they wrap neatly around your calves without gaping?

Yeah, they've been good ones so far.

These are literally the short puttees sewn together. They're not new repro material!

I have the same ones.
Be sure to allow plenty of time for them to deliver. Whilst I cant fault their product they do take time to deliver.
Small scale, one man operations can be like that. They build to order rather than keeping stocks.

Yeah ,quality work ,but it took 6 weeks and several emails to get one 1903 replica belt from them.

Either that or 6 weeks is the minimum timeframe to get a kid in a sweatshop in Shenzhen to knock some out in-between making Fucci handbags :giggle:

oooops! i bought a pair of puttees for my 80s load out and found that they had and extra length sewn in this fashion which i removed. Martin you can have the extra bits/lengths if it helps at all?

BTW Did they use puttees during WW2 - I thought it was all Gaiters?

Puttees were occasionally used in WWII, but I think B&H is creating a different look...

Thanks but I've found some now. :good:

You do see the short puttees quite often in WW2 photos. I don't know what the rules were. I have a pic of my grandad's unit which shows a mix of anklets and puttees so it was probably just down to what the QM had id stock.

Can't remember if this is a myth/lie or not, but apparently puttees were preferred by the commandos. but it was in a book. :)
