Can I suggest that any discussion on what the Doughboys should be going to as a group for anything be put on a back-burner until the leadership has been 'announced' or some such - as it will save confusion at a later date.

No, 82nd PIR - elite glider reg especially trained to detect enemy troop movement, even at night. They are not fooled by cats or small dogs though.

heh

PIR is a valid unit type... its just the paras...

Heh... now that's interesting. Originally the 101st Div didn't exist and the troops were all part of the 82nd Div.

The 101st was'nt at Husky but they turned up as 101st annyway, I know you did'nt but mentioning the fact  Did'nt armoured units take part in Gulch, also arnt there British commandos going to be there aswell, they are a bit more "untrue" than US infantry. But yer I agree with Spears doing Armored or GIR would be better for that particular event.

At Husky everyone was still in 42's though, that was a change of unit not a change of uniform.

There was units of the 2nd Armoured at Bloody Gulch but unless you've got a few Shermans a load of Armoured Div Infantry are going to look a bit out of place. Especially giving that the major bulk of the force was 506th P.I.R.

I included the Brits because I knew that appealing to some of the Brit players as well would be good and give the Germans something to think about. The Brits won't be in contact with the Americans, they have a completely separate agenda, that was the idea to make it more believable.

However - and this is not a suggestion or critasism or such - If there are players who oly have American Infantry kit, or several who would rather go together in American Infantry kit then the Commando force could just as easily be and SOE/OSS or even just accompanied by rangers (or CIC) to guide them in the 'American zone of opperations'.

Just saying it could be done. As you say the British scenario is there to give British players something believable and fitting to do, and it could be extended to American Infantry.

It could be, but just to put it in perspective...the Americans Paras were supposed to be the bulk of the force. The scenario caters for them being the bulk of the force, if they aren't then there are some objectives that won't really work.

Plus...The Brits scenario is supposed to be a bit sneaky beaky. If you bung a load of American infantry with them it ceases to be sneaky beaky and the scenario won't work again.

After a word with Taffy, it doesn't matter what you turn up in, but please read the scenario before deciding your load out. And if it's a group decision then please consider coming as G.I.R rather than Line Infantry.

Seeing all this is confusing poor old taffy, when I say american I mean american so any unit and any uniforms, I would love to see everyone turned out the same but this is real life and times are hard, I have one uniform and thats all I can afford.
I would never turn anyone away for not being spot on, we allow lookalikes and that is what the game is about, get to site and play don't turn people off because they can't afford the extra kit, what we want is happy players who go home knackered with huge smile on thier face :)

2nd armoured fits as well, there was whole Infantry regiment in the division that took part in the battle. Admittedly only the end bit but, meh.

Luckily Taffy your uniform is spot on for what we're doing, it's a 101st AB uniform.

That'd be good if that could be agreed on.

2nd Armored doesn't fit in the scenario, you can come as 2nd Armored but you'll be playing as and counted in with the paratroopers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I realise that starting up the group again is hot news and everyone wants to turn up in the same kit and support the Doughboys group but when CiA organises an event there isn't argument over the scenario to this extent. 2nd AD aren't included in the scenario and weren't there until the end of the battle, paratroopers were though, lots of them.
Can I suggest that this is discussed further but if you want to come as a cohesive unit then please consider coming 101st AB Div, 327th G.I.R to even attempt to stay in keeping with the scenario.

OR, if you've got M42's and a paratrooper loadout. Why not wear that and be as accurate as possible.

I'll leave it at that...

101st guys wont be attending the PBI Vs German game or the Dunkirk game and expect to play..We're not coming, as we're not an included unit.

Its a 101st Airborne Scenerio so it should only be 101st units really...taff and Alex have put alot of effort into the scenario. Its finalised.

Yup, Big UK has a good point there!

Hence I ask that all Doughboys go as 101st in some form (PIR or GIR), or as Brit.

:)

It's a shame you won't consider re-badging as well for St Lo, BigUk?

I spent ages writing this (thinking it through) and Yith beats me to it.
anyway I know I'm pretty much repeating what has just been said but I'm still posting it.

I've had a little sleepy think on the matter at hand and Spears is right. The main principle of the doughboy group is to bring a higher level of historical accuracy to a event, and it kind of seems like we'd be taking 2 steps backwards if we turned up to a event based around a specific unit as another unit which is out of context with the scenario.
If people what to go as infantry/can only go as infantry that's fine, no ones going to stop you, but as most of us here have M42's and are able to do a para loadout it seems silly to "stick a middle finger up at history" just so we can do our doughboy impression. Also the organisers have put a lot of effort in to the game and it wouldn't take much effort on our behalf to go in the right gear so everyone can totally immure their selves in the event.
I short this is not a doughboy accessible event, so lets just keep it airborne.

Cheers
Lip
