The weapons for this event are simple - only rifles are to be used. The following details this more.
Either side may use ANY wood effect bolt-action rifle - there is no need to have a No4 for the Poles and a K98 for the Germans.
Semi automatic rifles are allowed, but they MUST be used with low cap 'shotgun' magazines containing around 12-15 bbs, and be wood/wood effect - this includes the M14.
No sidearms are allowed, rifles only means rifles only. One man, one rifle.
Although you may use a rifle with a high fps (up to 500, with a minimum engagement range of 30 meters), as you do not have a sidearm your only option when the enemy closes is to retreat/surrender. We will be chronoing on the day so everyone knows for safety, and be strict on this engagement range being enforced - if we get bleeding faces everywhere I will be displeased. I would strongly urge anyone with an option to use/bring down their rifle to the '350fps with a .20' mark. It will allow you to get more out of the game, and make you more useful to your commander to boot.
SMGs on single shot are NOT allowed - their small size and huge mag capacity before needing to reload makes them too outperforming for my liking.
Just spent the last hour "Tanaka tinkering" and have managed to get the fps to what I reckon is just below 350. Still shoots pretty well too! Anyone got a rubber bayonet to sell?
Knowing my luck, we will have the coldest September on record and my fps will plummet on the day!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I'll be leaving the M14 as an emergency spare (or lender) as I shall be giving the G&G K98 a first outing - looking forward to seeing if gas power consistency makes any difference!
On Marsha's advice I have just tried the Tanaka using butane lighter fuel in a mag and got pretty good results, fps varied from 279 to 352 but was reasonably consistent at about 320-330fps.
I have tried using butane from a tent heater before but even with an adapter it was hard to get enough gas in to fire more than 5 or 6 shots.
Obviously gas is dependant on the weather but this certainly seems the way to go and I could even have one Mag with stronger gas for any long range shots as long as I swap it out straight away
That's good news will now go down that root now
Just make sure that noone smokes around you when you fire it!

Does 'rifles only' also mean we can't use pyros or rubber bayonets (or hand contact/knife kills generally)?

Rubber bayonets are part of a rifle , absolutely can be used.
Pyro can be used, but will be supplied by us - which reminds me 'get grenades' - so there will be a finite amount of grenades too.
feels very strange,i have an urge to charge batterys

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
- I actually did, the whole box of them! Not to use but the game was a reminder to look after my batteries.
Well I'm bringing a garand, as reserve or for Ed to use.... So batteries will need to be charged!
