Looking pretty good there Nils. You definitely need some jump boots or gamaschen to get the bottoms of those trousers tucked in and bloused properly but I'm sure you know that already. Some ammo pouches might be a good idea depending upon your choice of weapon.

FJ didn't wear Gamaschen,

They did late war when low boots could be worn due to shortages. It doesn't matter if they're blue or green, by the time FJ were resorting to using low boots the LWFD were using Heer equipment and anything would go really. I have a spare pair if you can't get any jump boots. A green breadbag is fine for late war too.

Ah yes, didn't mention mag pouches this time.

I'm deliberately leaving them out for now. Don't have a WW2 flavoured replica yet. Can't have a replica in The Netherlands and my best mate in the UK, who has faithfully taken care of my M4 AEG and 2 GBB's so far, is shipping off to Australia in september. I'll have to figure out what to do about storage and whatnot first (haven't personally got my VCRA as it's next to impossible for me to get 3 games in 2 months for starters - I get about 4 games a year at a stretch). If I solve that problem, I'll have to see what sort of suitable replica is available.

D'oh! :slap: My bad.

Most smocks have massive pockets, so you can fit mags in them. I can easily get 6 MP40 mags in mine.

Spot on. To qualify for UKARA (which isn't the only route, it must be said!) you must attend 3 games in not less than 2 months. Not 3 games in two months.

I've decided I don't like the Normandy camo scheme on my FJ helmet and want to change it to the textured sandy-colored type that I've seen around. Any ideas on what that colour would be?

- There are keyhole slots underneath the waist adjustment tabs - what are they used for?

Hello
First post here.
In the early war days the Fliegerbluse would be tucked inside the jump trousers, to facilitate the wearing of the 2nd pattern smock, and the belt hooks passed through the holes.

Excellent bit of info, as it still puzzled me! Thanks :)

Ah, I didn’t realise they tucked the Fliegerbluse in the Springerhosen! I’m a big fan of belt hooks on my Heer tunic, but when I tried this with my Fliegerbluse and type 2 smock, it just felt awkward.

Hello guys. looking for a bit of advice. I recently got myself a Sturm/Miltec splinter smock, I know it's not the correct pattern splinter but I didn't have enough money for the Spearhead one or any of the others either, but any way my question is about making the smock a bit darker or at least getting ride of the stone wash look as best I can. I thought I had seen someone talking about this, but could any one give me some advice or tips on how I may do this.
Thanks.

You could try getting it dirty - put it on, roll around in the mud.

Let it dry, don't wash it

IMO the whole Splinter A vs. Splinter B crap is not worth losing sleep over if you're working to a tight budget. Much better to get out and play :good:

As Del says, some vigorous back garden abuse should darken your smock nicely.

It's not the splinter a or b thing that bothers me, it's more the stone wash look. yes I fully intend to get it dirty. I shall be doing a good impression of a worm in Wales in two weeks, I just thought I seen thread some where about darkening the stone wash that was all.

if it's printed on white cloth, you could dye it in a khaki or light brown teint. Will get rid of all the white bits. This will also make the entire pattern darker overall though, so keep to a fairly light cotton dye.

Cheers fella, when you say Light cotton I take you mean in material and not colour.

I dyed one years ago with an olive dylon.
The outside was fine but the inside had a rather lurid green effect. But who sees the inside?
