It's rare, it's rare within the Field Divisions who got more stock infantry kit, so very rare within FJR. It did happen, you will see the odd image from the winter of '44. Use of the A frame seems to have declined generally as '44 slid into '45 even within the infantry.
If you need one to carry that much kit that it wont fit on your belt you might find yourself overloaded. Everything will fit on your belt that goes on the A frame, you just lose the extra small canvas bag. If you really need that extra small amount of hard to access space then I'd say you are carrying too much.
If you just want it for transiting kit from car to battle, a rucksack might be a better option. Tons of space, more comfortable, clip on[to the Y straps] or strapped are seen.
