Hi everyone
I'm looking for some help with a lipo battery I've just received.
When I tried to charge the battery my charger displayed that the battery charge was too low.
Has anyone got any idea on how to get a charge into the battery.
Cheers
Peter.

I could be wrong but I swear you can charge them as a 8.4v nimh, I Marshall at a site on occasion and this has sometimes been known to revive rental lipos

Could be the storage charge is a little lower than the cutoff voltage for your charger. You could try getting it fully charged on a cheaper charger like the little blue turnigy types although if it hits the safety cutoff limit through use you still might not be able to charge it from that voltage till its topped off.
CJindahouse is correct, I have salvaged a few 7.4 Lipos with a short (a few minutes) charge with the charger set to Nimh. Then set to Lipo balance.
It is worth getting one of the voltage indicators off ebay, great for monitoring your battery charge levels and cell condition.

These guys are correct, low as possible nimh charge, should bring it up to then put on lipo charger, might take a while, might take a few goes, but it does work,.......sometimes!

If you follow the above advice watch it like a hawk and have it in a lipo safe charging bag ! Forgetting it or not paying attention could cause a nasty fire , I know you like your bangs but they are not so much fun in the living room ![]()
Was it a new battery that arrived like it ,if it was I'd return it as a first choice ,if it puffs up because you try'd a non lipo charger then you can't return it .

Absolutely!!!!!!
I must admit, I was very nervous about doing this the first time and placed the battery in a biscuit tin.
(I always charge lipos in it and store them in a locked cash tin).
Never leave a charging Lipo unattended.

As above I've had lipos drop too low and simply charged then as Nimh for a few minutes then switched back to lipo charging, never had any problems doing this.

Hi where did you buy the battery
i just bought 2 Lipo batteries from hobby king ,they are very cheap and not considered high end,and you can get duff ones that are no good the moment the package is opened.
The first battery, one of its 2 cells at 2.2v way under the minimum 3v,I immediatly complained and got a replacement, had to upload a video of the battery, with visible serial number and the readout from a voltage
alarm to you tube to prove my case. They dont seem to do anything if you just fill in the online complaint form.Chase them up on the instant meassging they have on the web site it will be sorted on the spot if you can do the youtube thing.
Second battery of the two, is getting unbalanced cells after one use so basicaly this is useless also, but you dont get many days to complain about these batteries and get a replacement from this company I may have been just too late complaining about this.
My advice is.
1 Get an i max b6 and balance charge every time, all lipo cells must be the same votage within 0.1v
2 get a lipo alarm with digital read out to moniter battery condition, they connect to the small white plug on your battery.
3 Test your battery on opening your package it should be 7.6v for storage, get below 6v and you will get cell damage,it may scrap it totaly.
4 i charge on NMIH setting also ,20 seconds may be enough to get above 6v,then your imax will charge on the correct lipo programme, thats only if i have the same problem you do though.
5 IF THE PLASTIC CASE SWELLS and apears under tension get that battery out of your house quick, although i am asssured that the new generation LIPO batteries are much less prone to catching fire.
6 Try to get a new battery ,the one you have will never perform well, even if you do manage to recover it from this low voltage

Thanks everyone for the info.
I have just purchased a unused in game 30cal but the battery for the bb feeder was flat & it is only a small 7.4 lipo hence my inquiry to charge it.
Lovely weapon for defending a position but way to heavy to carry around so next year the hun better keep their heads down. Lol.
I may not of played much in the second part of this year due to my fitness level but my armory has grown.
Once again thanks for the information.
See ya soon
Peter.

That done the trick I've now got a fully charged battery.

See ya
