I would be interested to know people's thoughts on attending WWII airsoft events. Feel free to vote and comment.

All that I can. The only thing that stops me getting to more is work.

I don't have the time or inclination to do open days, so WW2 is the only airsoft I do.

Work, family obligations and travel time are the only restrictions (If it's more that 3 hours to get to the game, it better be pretty fekkin good) :D

I try to attend as many as I can, so far I have only made it to 3 WW2 events and have worn my rig at an open day for a laugh, working weekends, short of cash and being deployed to a real warzone have put payed to most of the other games that I have wanted to go to, I intend to change that this year!! :good:

"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

I get to as many as I can, but heavily commited to running regular site. I am convincing as many as I can at my reg site to go WW2, they're used to me banging on about it :)

I've put 'other' as while I attend its nearly always as an organiser or in a working review capacity as i really cant afford to just turn up and play these day unfortunatley....

I would love to attend one but all of my regular airsoft mates are more into modern and Vietnam loadouts so I havent made it to any yet :(

Lots of people have turned up on their own to a CiA event and, before they know it, have made lots of new friends.

Absolutely right, Pete.

And to those uncertain about their kit, pretty much every event advertised on here has a kit borrowing / lending thread, so if you need anything, just ask. I'd much rather people turn up in what kit they have and participate - and have fun! - than sit at home, worrying if their kit is good enough or not. :)

When I attended my first CiA game, nearly 3 years ago, I didn't know anyone, (other than on-line), I wasn't much of an airsofter at the time only having gone to a couple of opendays just so that I wasn't a complete nuwb when I started doing ww2 games, everyone was friendly & welcoming and I haven't looked back since :good:

Amen to that. No point taking endless picture of yourself in your garden if you're not going to use the kit!

Exactly the same here. I just bit the bullet after getting fed up of trying to convince my friends to come. If I'd waited for my friends to come around to the idea I'd still be waiting now! :slap: I often still travel to games on my own as there aren't many WW2 players around here but I know there will always be friends to meet when I'm there. :good:

Was all fired up for the Kasserine Pass game that had to be postponed .... and will get to one soon,

Well Operation Dragoon is being run in its place. Its still the same date and kit requirements; in fact its even more relaxed. Its only the location thats changed and we're putting just as much effort, if not more, into running it since we can't just sell it on the unique site like Kasserine.

My first game was Autum Mist, had only ever spoken to people on here and didn't have a clue at what to expect, turned up and after about 30 mins went and did a beer run for everyone, settled in for a night of chat and laughter, loved it!!, managed to get a mention on the video and took out the German Mortar by sniping the whole crew, Have never looked back and am trying to get others involved as well.

My first WW2 Airsoft was the CIA Arnhem Event. I went on my own and met some great people, most of which are still on this forum. :good:

been regular airsofting fo 11 years and just booked my first ww2 event ,must say that events are usually long a way away and expensive and i find i cant justify leaving the family for a two day event ,but im usually in ww2 kit at open days because i prefer it.more one day events would be a good thing from my point .

armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

Well mate - Jimbo's Operation Sealion and the Operation Wolf Cub are down here on the coast - all one dayers.
