you tried changing to a different bulb in the tachenlampe?

Heh, the torches were bright enough at Wotan - they don't have to be Surefires to be useful, a 3v filament lamp is never going to dazzle!
Specsavers who are the "official" optometrists
No one told the Derby branch then! Still, cheap and quick by post, so stuff 'em! (Anyone noticed how many staff they have a Specsavers? I think they are secretly subsidised by HMG so as to lower unemployment rates...)

These black ones aren't a patch on the green one I had.

)
Where did you get your lamps from? trying to think where I got mine from, not had any probs with them until small person lost one of the bulbs and the catch on the back of the other snapped off grovelling about at wotan.

One from Major, an identical one from...
....SoF. They're the big battery type. My green one (which eventually overheated, even though not switched on!) took 2 x D batteries and was 10 times brighter.

remembered it was zeltplane, and mine took 2 d batteries, no use whatsoever but I don't care ![]()

Just got back off holiday from the North of Wales and brought back with me...
Brit entrenching tool for £20 - '38 dated cover, '44 dated handle and '45 dated head.
Canadian "Brill Cap" (British Empire forces) £3 - '43 dated, fits my huge head and in nearly mint condition (one tiny moth hole).
How much would one consider paying for a 1907patt SMLE bayonet? is £48 too much including frog?

KWC 1911, Wartime Map of Carentan, Corporals Stripes, Leather Chinstrap for M1C and Large scrim helmet cover, few war dated British coins to bung in one of my pockets.
On another note also bought a 3 pk of the Parking Ticket stickers that go on your windscreen for a practical joke on my mate. Serves him right for buying a Mercedes!

How many FPS do the K98's run at? I got hit in the shoulder at Husky by a round fired from quite a distance, heard it coming before it hit me and it left an indent in my arm, through two layers of clothing and a piece of paper in the pocket of my jumpsuit. It seriously hurt lol

Spiers, the CiA organisers chrono'ed Tanaka 98K's at Husky and the results were within the allowed limits.

It was me that shot you!
I thought I shot you in the neck as well? Anyway, my Tanaka was chrono'ed at an average of 479fps on the day, with a highest reading of 484fps (with .2's by the way!). The velocity the Tanaka can achieve is dependent on the gas used and the ambient temperature on the day, plus any upgrades fitted. It was the sheer weight of the .43 ammo that hurt so much. Going back to that particular shooting, I'd stalked up on you and a couple of other yanks who were looking the other way but when I looked up, I was only about 10 metres away, so I actually crawled away to about 35 metres before I turned and opened fire on you, so that I was actually outside the minimum engagement distance (which was 20 metres).
In my post above, about the barrel and other bits, I was referring to my springer K98, which should be a lot more accurate and consistent with its' upgrades than the Tanaka one I have.
