I assume there is a lot of traders there yes?

More militaria traders in one place than you can shake a shitty stick at. One of the largest of its type in the world if I remember correctly.

Indeed :) It's certainly the largest in the whole of Europe.

:slap:
Sounds like it will be very expensive!

OK, place your bets on what is going to break first, my bank account, me or my rucksack!

Bargain of the day yesterday for me was complete rear stock for Enfield No4, Brass butt plate all the screws and swivels, and the stock bolt, for £20. Also picked up middle band and swivel and front sight protector, my M700 conversion will be coming along nicely :)

brand new ressi case from mc vickers

I forgot to say; you will find the sholder strap folded up and held underneath it's retaining popper on the inside-bottom of the case. You'll be the first person to take it out (if you do) since it was last poppered into place over 70 years ago! :good: Notice also the tailors chalk still around the inside edges from where it was made! I love finding things that haven't been touched since being made - kinda a time-warp effect.

EDIT: I heard from a work colleague who went to War & Peace on Wednesday, that there's a guy selling a massive box-full of Brit' light-weight resi's for £1 each!!!

Well, War and peace was hard on the wallet, and filled a rucksack!

US kit:
60s euro helmet and liner (still in storage paper) that looks like a US M1 style helmet, I'm trying to work out if that is a smudged inner stencil has Greek character or not. Good enough for airsoft.
M41 replica jacket
2 pair of Norwegian M43 style trousers
Suspender straps for pistol/garand belt
BAR Belt
US style leggings.

UK kit
Home guard armband and belt slide (for attaching webbing to as normal belt),
a couple of gas mask/side bags
Plastic Replica Helmet (needs inserts of some sort)
Side cap

Other
Belgium smock, half zip looks like it never left the depot
French jungle boots (for nam VC look).
French stainless steel personal brew kit (alcohol burner, and and mug sized pot with lid), just perfect for morning brew ups at music festivals and other camping
Leather dispatch rider gloves (for my growing French motorized troopers look)

I had intended to get french motorcyclist jacket and trousers (first issued 1935-38, stayed in issue until the late 50's) but couldn't find any.

I really didn't think I'd find anything I wanted and the day started off very slow indeed, but then all these bargains just somehow slipped into my possession!

McVickers' War & Peace purchases:

For WW2:
10 line magneto switchboard (yes, another... I have 'Kermititis') case and leads in brilliant nick - £5!
British explosives detonator "Exploder, Condenser, Mk1" (the first ever non-dynamo type exploder used by the British!) - £15
Vickers tripod spares pouch (post war quick release tabs, rather than poppers - but still all brass) - £3
Gas cape tan - £5 (thanks ever-so to the lads at Angels!)
Gas cape green - £3.50 (I actually bought this just for general every-day use when out walking Derby dales, etc..)
SMLE No4 main stock wood plus a ribbed 'Canadian'/Savage middle upper piece - £5
British wooden Fuse "ammo" box - long and flat enough to store rifles/my Thompson in - £8
Spare scrap serge (a pair of torn BD trousers) and scrap cotton drill (a pair of torn drill trousers) for making/mending uniform bits - £Free!*
A Hungarian/'Hungarian-Style' hairy backpack (how's your Hungarian impression coming along Hurrah?) - £Free (Thanks ever-so again the the Angels lads, you've certainly earned a couple of drinks from me! Roll-on Op Shingle...)

For Cold War airsofting):
Two unissued sets of DDR NVA UTV webbing for my friends - 45Euro
Two unissued DDR NVA grey nylon belts, two Y-straps and an unissued curved AK47 ammo pouch - £9
Two unissued DDR NVA square zelts - £8 for both!
DDR NVA grey nylon AK sling - £2

*(<pikey> I always take a tour around the bins in the trade area just before I leave. I got a lovely canvas bucket with shoulder strap last year! </pikey>)

That was Kroots barmy Idea (I still hanker to do soviet naval infantry but der kommisar he say niet!)

Lets just say it is on hold until we can find a green dye that works reliably on Swedish woolen jackets (dylon don't) as apart from the pocket flaps and lack of epulettes, they are the right cut.

Items from W&P include
1 Mouse grey shirt
2 bread bags
1 bread bag strap
1 Pair of ankle gaiter boots
1 Pea dot cap

There was a lot of items well over priced from both british sellers as well as our friends in europe. One stall from SI was selling service parts for the MG 42 inc all the bit's to make the gun's live again, the only item they didn't have were barrels..............

Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.

Hasn't Bedsnbucks got a Soviet Navel Infantry kit? If that's what he wore in the social time at Gunman's last 'Cold War' era game, then it does look good. Josh (Gunman) was tempted to pursue a landed Kreigsmarine loadout too!

I could heavily scallop the pockets and add epaulettes is people need modification to be done? I'm a dab hand with a sewing machine.

I know the seller you're talking about - he didnt have all (or anywhere near all) the parts required. HM Border Agency, Plod and other organisations are known for keeping a close eye on whats sold at W&P.

As to some of the prices, the french dealers were the worst by far. I think I upset one with my use of the phrase "fucking hell, thats overpriced!". In French.

Kroot reckons he has that sorted (claims he has a tame seemtress  ). With the rear pockets being used as material to make new pocket flaps (original flaps are not deep enough to simply create scollops). If we can sort the dye, I reckon the 4 pocket parra versions would make a good erzats French 1935 jacket (lacks epulattes and pockets are slanted rather than straight so cover with a fake pocket flap). Just need to locate a good reliable dye to turn them green.

At the weekend I got my HP PPSH41 out only to find a mahoosive crack in the wood stock.

So this weekend and this morning I've been trying to repair it with "no more nails".

I think it's going to be okay, but this is a warning to all that they are not as strong as they look!
