Same here C-W. I think there is a technique to carboot bargain hunting that escapes me.

I just seem to have a knack for finding bargains and oddities at carboots - some sort of quirky superpower...
Feel free to use this power to your own means;l I've already managed to find Yith a really decent condition "Microphone, Hand, No4" (particularly hard to get hold of with the original 4-pin plug on) for his WS18, at a ham radio carboot for £6! (they go for silly money on eBay when they do turn up).
It's not that I go obsessively to all the bootsales in the locality, just a few known 'good' ones in the locality whenever I have time to go, or any that I happen to pass when out of my local area (like today). Always go early - there's always antiques dealers and other 'collectors' to beat to the nice and cheap stuff!
I think I've cleared Derby's cattlemarket bootsale out of anything good - haven't found any nice militaria there for quite a while now  but that Brit' machete I bought last Saturday came from another Derby carboot at Willington that I had only just heard about that day.

First 6 volumes of 'Uniforms of the SS' by Andrew Mollo
Not faultless but a very good grounding in the SS kit of all branches.
Related to JD7 post, H.Dv.86 from August 1941 'Feldkochbuch'
Translated into English by John Baum of Germanmanuals.com well worth a scan.
Most of his translations are worthy buys.

WW2
A large pack blanco'd in pea-green, with cross straps but no L-straps, only very slightly tatty - £2
Two un-dated infantry spades, came from a lot of 1943 dated spades said the seller, one still has a 1945 dated card stores tag tied to it - £4 each!!!

Non-WW2
Two pairs of British lightweights (trousers) in my size, used but look nearly new. To use for Cold War Brit imperessions or for every-day use - £5 each
