Yeah, I saw a few pictures of WW1-era BAR belts and it is quite similar to the one I've picked up (except for the colouring and Carbine pouches instead of .45 pouches).
Wow, great link! Didn't even know about that forum. I'll see if I can get some additional info from the guys over there.
I'm suspecting the belt has been modified post-WW2, but I can't say why exactly. Korea or Vietnam just sounds right to me.

Regardless of origin it is a very nice piece and it feels like it'll outlive me by many years!

From Hemel Hempstead's "Nash Mills Carboot" this morning:

A WW2 British "Cigarettes" ration tin, in fair condition - with a 1920s/1930s era set of Happy Families playing cards inside! :giggle: - £1

A pair of WW2 British "Spectacles, Tinted, No.2" in fantastic/near-mint condition still in their original "Spectacles, Tinted, Nos.2 or 3, Case, Mk I". The case is rather dented on top, but still retains most of it's paint and lettering.
This pic is of a pair of Army 'No.3' or Air Ministry 'E2' "Spectacles, Tinted" with the leather sides. Mines a pair of 'No.2' which don't have these leather sections: - £3!

I second that, it would give my Ramcke brigade kit a bit of an air.

Continuing my afrika obsession. I picked up today a set of afrika korps trousers and jacket. The jacket is a Richard underpants one, the trousers epic or sof. For the princely sum of £39. Danke,so now have an excuse to buy lots of koolen deutchen kiten.

A shiny new SnS No 4 in exchange for my old one. I shall post some thoughts and comments on it in due course but I have been gaming this weekend so not much time to play with it yet. It does seem capable of shooting the he'll out of the trees at the back of the house just as well as my k98 though :)

Cheers

A box of MAG short M14 magazines, almost exactly same size as the cut down one I made for my M14 based 'G43' but without the hassle of cutting down magazines... Metal shells, they will need painting but might be handy for other G43 owners and possibly for Garand people who can't get any more shotgun mags. Firesupport have them in stock.

They also fit perfectly into G43 pouches.

Cheers
Martin

Got myself a very nice M1916 leather holster (Perkins-Campbell Co., so it's a WWI manufactured holster?), OD3 M-1936 pistol belt, M1942 carlisle pouch (-43 dated) with original bandage and a repro M-1942 canteen pouch with canteen for just under £40. :good:

Been very slow at keeping up to date with what i've been aquiring lately....

From 2 weekends ago:
Kings Langley Carboot, Hemel Hempstead
I found an old punk'd up belt with a sting of bullet cases in their belt clips sewn to it, along with a large pile of more linked-ammounition belts in a pile. Got the whole lot for £4. Now, the belts of linked bullets weren't anything special (just empty cases or spent blanks) but what I was happy to pay for was the '44patt belt that was used as the donor belt!

Also that weekend, inherited even more field telephones (mainly Type Fs, but also two Type Ls), a 'Gibson Girl' radio antenna kite (have yet to fly it  ), a large wooden practice grenade/artillery shell ammunition crate, a Brit' morse practice set, some old R209 radio manuals and documentation, a special webbing pack for the post-war WS88, a 37patt map case, and quite a few other nice items which I am very grateful for.

This morning:
Marchment Fields Carboot Sale, Hemel Hempstead
A pile of '58patt webbing, which I paid £15 for - I'd never usually pay this much for some old used '58patt, except that it had a '44patt waterbottle with it!!! These things are getting like hens teeth, and this one has a very good condition cover, with a slightly dented, 1965 dated bottle and cup.
Bought a large rubber replica artillery shell! Apears to be a replica of a german 88mm MkIV shell, as used in Tiger I. It was used in the filming of a movie* up at Bovingdon Airfield (just South of Hemel) back in the '60s. Been owned all these years by a lady who acquired it at the film site when they opened it up to the public after filming - for only £4!!!
Also bought a 1940 dated Jewish prayer book, to go with my unintentional Service Bible collection. I'm not a religious man, but I seem to have acquired some lovely little Service Bibles, so now I pick them up whenever I see them going cheap/rescue them from car-boot sales, especially rare/interesting ones like this Jewish one - £0.50p!

*[Is going to be one of the following - just need to find out which one had Tiger Is in it; The War Lover (1962); 633 Squadron (1964) The Battle of Britain (1968) and Mosquito Squadron (1969). Anyone got any idea which one would have had use for it?]

Not The Battle of Britain or 633 Squadron. No Tigers there.
Didn't the Tiger I use the same basic round as the Flak 88?
Could it have been a prop for a flak gun? What colour is the pointy end?

It's yellow. It's a replica of the one in the middle here. It's just the projectile, not the case as well:

It's been a hat-fest for me this morning so far!

From Nash Mills Carboot Sale today:

A WW2 police Mk2 helmet, "inferiour steel" version with the three holes on each side, in tatty but clean and complete condition - £3!!!

A 1942 dated British Wolesey helmet, size 6 7/8, made by Moores of London, in fantastic condition for its age - £8!!!

I am currently doing a little jig of happyness. There was also a complete set of brass 'spark-proof' spanners, pliers and hammers in their wooden chest, all Air Ministry stamped and all dated from between mid 1930s and mid 1940s for only £10, but I don't know what I'd do with it, as I've got far too much random stuff as it is. Also, yesterday there was a 1935 dated Royal Engineers woodsaw in fantastic condition, for not much money. But again, what would I do with all this stuff... :slap:

Yellow is the usual colour for German HE shells?
It could have been used as a prop for a Flak 36.
