Yellow is the usual colour for German HE shells?
It could have been used as a prop for a Flak 36.

From further pictorial research, it seems that yellow painted 88mm rounds were used in both flak and tanks. Cheers for the heads-up - previously I could only find Tiger I references, with nearly all the flak rounds being green or black painted.

So anyone, any of those films have an 88mm flak in them?

Kar98 bayonet scabbard and frog from a German ebay site called medieval arm's ,both delivered for £31.50, got no use for the bayonet itself as i'm getting a rubber one and this was the cheapest i could find and it's very nice.

Blimey, that is cheap. Is the bayonet a blunt repro or a sharp real one?

I have recently acquired another pair of Mark III pouches ready for blancoing. It is that blancoing time of year.

Not very WW2 but I also seem to have acquired a full set of '68 pattern DPMs in v. good nick (only missing one button), a 58 pattern poncho, a spare 58 poncho roll for my NBC suit and spent a happy afternoon re-scrimming my Mark V helmet so it looks like a bush. I may actually make it to a Cold War game this year :)

I also got one of those LED 'paraffin' lamps like Yiths.

Cheers
Martin

Cheaper than e-bay from the website? Often the case.

no i didnt get the bayonet just the sheath and frog, i dont actually need the bayonet as i plan on getting a rubber one so this was the cheapest way ,otherwise its £30 plus p+p just for the bayonet and scabbard and then the frog for another £8 plus p+p.i still have to fork out for the rubber one but that i can use.

I found all sorts of interesting stuff in my greatcoat pockets when it arrived. A cigarette lighter, a bandage and a bar of soap!

Cheers

A box of MAG short M14 magazines, almost exactly same size as the cut down one I made for my M14 based 'G43' but without the hassle of cutting down magazines... Metal shells, they will need painting but might be handy for other G43 owners and possibly for Garand people who can't get any more shotgun mags. Firesupport have them in stock.

They also fit perfectly into G43 pouches.

Cheers Martin, just bought a box of these for my garand and they fit like a glove. They do tend to alter the aesthetic of the rifle  but the consistency they give over shottie mags,it's something I'm willing to do. But thanks for the heads up :good: :good:

I'm glad they were useful. I've just metal-effected all of mine and hoping to try them out at the Fireball game in a couple of weeks.

I've seen people using full size M14 mags with Garands, so I am sure these are an inmprovement!

Cheers
Martin

it's very similar to the Tanaka and those sometimes catch on the shiny metal bar on the side of the bolt when pushing the bolt forward, you can either chamfer the shiny metal bar so it slides in better or remove it when in use, even the dboys k98k jams on this part sometimes although its plastic and easier to re shape.

Yes good find Martin, recently aquired a Garand which I am planning on making up conversion kits for G41 & SVT40. My box of mags arrived today :good:
