In which case the commando insignia are probably 3" dia, instead of 2 1/2" dia. It is possible to trim them to the right size (2 1/2" dia).

Meh, what's half an inch? Couldn't you just stand a bit further away?

Yes, they will trim to 2½", just. But why are they 3" then?

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

i sand blasted all the original paint off then give it two coats of the aluminium black, then gently rub with a bit of scotch brite.after putting the black on it comes up as dark brown which looked crap so i thought i would get rid of it with scotchbrite and hey presto.

Whats Scotchbrite???Some kind of polish? Have you highlighted an areas with a differnet shade or is that really how it comes up just by polishing??? Have you sealed the paint in with anything when you were finished???? Questions, questions, questions :D

scotchbrite is like wire wool but made of fibre's instead of wire so its a bit easier on your finish. there are no highlighted areas as the scotchbrite takes care of that when you rub over it. the aluminium black is not like paint but like gun blue so it goes on as a thin coat which i think is much better than the build up you get from paint. it comes in liquid form and is applied using a sponge, left for a minute as the chemical reacts on the metal, then washed off with cold water.
