...seem to have slashed prices. Went on to order my webbing kit and prices are down from GBP125 to GBP49.99 for a basic infantry web kit. The full kit is down to GBP69.99.

Just been sent their latest catalogue ( spent enough to be on their mailing list last year then  )
I suspect they are feeling the pinch from overseas competition . TBh their prices are still too high

SOF shoudl alwaya be the last port of call for anyone really

I dnt know how many times i've said this on this forum but their mark up is ridiculous.

example

Best practice - any CiA member should do before buying kit/weapons etc is ask in the forum, I think most here has good/bad experience of the retailers out there that we all use. hindsight and knowing nods are our best friends lol

Plus the quality of some of SoF's stuff leave something to be desired in my experience. Compare original kit to their repros and you'll see what I mean.

I agree mate. IMHO One of the best re-enactment suppliers in the country. They may have made a few mistakes but
I have never seen anything that is totally wrong. until recently they were the ONLY place doing decent reliable german kit.

Kind of agree their pal. If sue sue had some advertising in the renactment mags SOF would face a lot steeper opposition.

Some groups demand certain suppliers are used and sof is one of em. (SBG & WW2 LHA)

I can appreciate that some groups demand it.

dn when I started I only knew about SOF from adverts in mags like Combat and Survival etc.

I just feel obligated as a forum mod to point guys in here, especially those less concerned about stuff being 'perfect' to cheaper suppliers.

I have some SOF mp40 pouches and they are great but I got em second hand, not at their rates !

TBH mate, I think it is a bit exesive, you can still controll authenticity without restricting where ppl shop. I think it started because folks were wearing converted swedish jackets and they had enough. At the time Sue Sue and Spearhead wernt about so the only other UK dealer was underwood, and his stuff was crap at the time as well.

Their response - a refund at last but also a note stating that they were unhappy with my letter of complaint, had deleted me from their mailing list, had cancelled MP40 pouches that I had on back order & would forthwith not be accepting any more orders from me!

that is indeed rather shit. you think they'd actually take the time to find out what the problem was rather than blaming you for something they did. :?

oh, and blatant plug: http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2 ... php?t=1330

To be honest i mainly use SOFs catlaogue to look at what things are available and look at the *maximum* price i should ever pay for something.

The when i know what what im looking for looks like i shop about on ebay and at shows.

I have been dealin with them for a few years, and this isnt the first time they have messed up,

A few years ago I ordered a pair of "New, Slightly worn" ammo boots, when they arivied I had to have them re soled as the leather was perished and the studds were rusting to nothing, not good. These were supposed to be a replacment for a pair that were allready getting sorted while the coblers had them(2 weeks to wait for a set of horse shoe irons).

The other time I orded two pairs of wartime canadian BD and they sent greek, this was taking the piss somewhat as greek cost

Another example of markup, theyre selling the P42 camo USMC gear for

I've had some seriously wrong stuff from them, but no problems with customer service.

From what I can gather their British BDs are okay, but in wierd sizes.

I try and only buy from them when absolutely necessary and then mostly at the shows they go to.
