There's nothing wrong with Belgian BAR's, that wasn't the point of the comment it was merely that they were slightly different in certain aspects, as stated, magazine, sight, possibly barrel length, flashhider and possibly the bipod? I may be wrong on that one...

Anyway cracking film, anyone who bad mouths it gets shot...all in favour...

There's loads of strange inaccuracies in Kelly's Heroes

My favourite is the "sniper" using a Mosin Nagant! Always makes me chuckle.

Although its very unlikely its not entirely impossible, say he stole it from a dead german who brought it back from the russian front?

Out of interest, what is "wrong" about Belgian BARs?
After all, Browning spent his last last days at FN.

Nothing at all bud, I was just explaining the differences I saw when comparing them between the American and Belgian made versions.

I may be wrong, but actor playing Petuko should have probably been given the M1918A2, but as being filmed in Yugoslavia it was probably easier to source a Belgian one, and the film makers thought that would be close enough.

I agree all doubters of the greatness of Kelly's Heroes should be shot. :happyclap:

It is a glorious movie.

I think the IMDB goof page states the BAR is actualy a Polish model!

And the sniper has a Mosin Nagant rather than a a springfeild.

At least they tried to get in the right ball park, unlike some movies!

To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"

Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.

There's loads of strange inaccuracies in Kelly's Heroes but I still think it's a fantastic film, I had heard it was a beligian BAR but what gives it away?

Amongst other bits from memory is the weird bipod and they have a pistol grip also.

I can remember a good few years ago they were plentifull as deacts FN model D or something and could be had for around £100-£125-back in the good old days when stuff was cheap

Yep,i still LOVE the film as it was part of my childhood and back in the day and wouldnt change anything in it.

Doubt back in the day Kellys and other war films of the era werent made for the sole purpose of reenacting types nit picking every last detail they were just meant to be big bad loud adventure war movies and who cares if details are wrong-hell even Spielberg with all his millions and advisors cannot get everything 100% spot on

Enjoy these "classics" for what they are if you are of a similar age to me(30s).
