I was the victim of Period Rush during a rather awkward fumble with a young lady back in the mid-90s. It's fair to say it doesn't feature as one of the highlights of my coital resumé.
Ah yes been there in the 70's, afterwards on the way home you should have seen the look on the Taxi drivers face as he turned the light on in the cab to assist with my payment only to reveal my crimson covered hand

If only it had been my hand....
It sounds like this place has been invaded by RAF Armourers! You grotty buggers!

To be fair, a period rush would spoil an otherwise good WW2 impression...unless you were going for the battlefield injury look.
Enough, enough
I always overlook glasses as they are a necessary evil of airsoft! Don't sacrifice eye protection for a look - you only get one set of eyes, make sure you take care of them!
I've just got some ESS Ice glasses - they are about as low profile as you can go whilst staying safe.

Plus one on the ESS ice goggles, very unintrusive as eye protection goes and mine caught a round from a Sten at fairly close range which has given me faith in them.
I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.
Rumor is that ICEs frame breaks pretty instantly if hit by a BB. Never got my ICEs to sit well on my face, left a 1cm or more gap under the goggles, just didn't fell safe wearing them, so reverted back to my Advancers, yeah they look sorta dorky, but they give me complete coverage.
Why do you always carry that umbrella?
-Bad memory. Never could remember the password. Knew no Jerry would carry one. Had to prove I was an Englishman, you see.
A bridge too far
ESS Crossbows have saved my eyes more times than I care to admit!
Plus they make fantastic shades when you clip out the clear for the dark lenses
Not as low profile I might add, but great coverage
Back to the original question "Not attending events" that ruins all.
I would rather see a number of people turn up with imperfect kit than people Not turning up thinking their kit is not good enough and getting shouted at. You will probably have better kit than you think.
Keep calm and Play
yup a near perfect impression at home in the wardrobe is not as good as a look's OK impression in the field , use what you got ,don't wait for perfection .

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
