You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Ah thats it!!
Thanks alot!

...and cheers for the commemorative mugs!
Forgot to say thanks for them that was a really nice touch that the lads appreciated. As I said in one of the other posts "Take care of the small details and the big ones take care of themselves" They certainly did in this game

Marvelous - even with the driving rain and top speed of 55 in the NAAFI wagon ( and those bleedin hill - 15 mph in second). Must admit best point was with razorlight on top of the hill dropping grenades on 6 jerries. Of course stupidly i decided to send out some taunts only to be shot in the head for my trouble! although this was closely followed by actually and finally getting charges to light in the wind and taking out one of the hedgehogs.
Splendid work by all the organisers. i got a very small insight into this with the setting up and taking down of the phone lines and hedgehogs etc. however, I'm sure this was infinitesimal in comparison to the work all the chaps did. Well done again!

huge thank you to all that made it happen and those who came.best event ive been to(and most tireing).there must have been so mutch to do to make sutch a great day and capitalise on the location.best players ive played with or against ,i saw no cheeting all day,and the dead bodys staying in place really added to the image even added to the despiration because you knew they couldent re-spawn and help,it meant you really had to stay alive for an attack to work.again thank you all.

OK, I have had my nice relaxing bath, now I am ready to type things.
hmmm, OK, nothing new to add. A most enjoyable game and a truly interesting site.
My thanks to the organisers, of course, and to my little section', who were a bunch of little johnny on the spots for doing as they were damn well told.
Thanks for the loans - helmets for the chaps, 1911 for myself and the tent in case (Oh yeah, sorry we forgot to give you that back Martin, it has been sent with Boshman for you).
So lovely game to play, in a lovely place to play it, and with lovely people to do so.
Much thanks guys.
Highlights for me were our first CP being annihilated by the very surprise attack from Bruno - even I didn't expect that!

being blown up by the artillery shell
I have to ask, was on the way in to the site, with the initial bangs? If so you were my only kill of the day!
As we lost Friday night set up I only had a short time to program the remote detonators, wire them to the charges, set them in place and then hide myself enough distance away to set them off, without being seen, I found the shower we had just before then had saturated my bino lenses, so I couldn't see properly and tried to set the charges off as the Brits enterd the area whilst making sure the advance party of resistance were clear. I would like to know all that effort got at least one of the Tommys
Another note, well done to the Bren gun teams, on reflection, I think your contribution to the Allied attack force has made a significant difference, with the Brits having an answer to the Axis MGs. At one point when we had lost Anton, from the German OP all I could see was a row of Tommy pots glistening in the sunlight, and the faint outline of a Bren gun mag covering the only route the counter attack could take. That was when I pulled the phone line, I knew we couldn't re take Anton whilst you were there.

Well boys and girls, what a weekend!
I am battered and bruised, cut and sore and everything else in between. I'd like to say a big thanks to all the organisers for the effort you put into this cracking game. top marks all round.
I'd also like to put in a good word for everyone in second section, you all did a fantastic job. You battled on though blood, sweat, heat and exhaustion. All the while having to put up with a loony corporal. Well done chaps!

That was some of the finest gameplay I have seen, hat off to everybody,I can only judge the Germans by the way they beat us back for most of the day ,and as for the Brits their dogged refusal to give up was brilliant ,thank you all for making it a truly excellent day.

Yup, it's all been said
Highlights for me were leading the assault on the first MG point (anton) where I got to shout "fix bayonets" in the hope that it would shit up any Germans who were listening. Only one of us had a bayonet and his response was "you're not serious are you?"
Also finally neutralising Bruno, which had been a thorn in our side all bloody day.
Low points were missing the sappers successfully dealing with the mines and slipping on hobnails in the last half our to give myself a nice gash on the back of the leg.
Indeed! I can only echo what has already been said, despite being battered, bruised, bloodied and sunburnt, I am still on a high from a fantastic weekend
A massive thank you to all the players who travelled from far and wide at great effort and expense. The standards of kit, conduct and gameplay really were unsurpassed!
Thanks to our hosts Mike and Tracey who looked after us all so well, thanks to Gordon for the brilliant signposts, to Josh and the CiA crew for the loan of their equipment, and to my fellow organisers who all worked so hard to make this event the success that it surely was!
I'll be getting my film developed today so some more pics this evening
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

To echo previous comments it was a great day all in all! A highlight was Lardy's one armed crawl back over the lip of the hill after a group of Germans attempted a frontal assault on our lovely fortified hill top!
A few times I did get frustrated when pinned by huge amounts of SMG fire and I had to hide behind some big rocks in front of the German HQ...... I've found my Garand is neither that accurate or that long ranged! But the clearing of the the grassy hill and a few other points more than made up for it!
A word to the Brit Section 2, great guys to play with and I really rnjoyed the combined operations up and down the hills! Good stuff! (The Corporal wasn't that loony was he?!)

Ah, highlights, I forgot to mention those.
Finally getting the field phone on Anton to work after grubbing around trying to find the wires for half an hour.
The beautiful machinegun nest we built out of stones.
The British attack which killed us all, one minute they were at the bottom of the hill, the next there was a horde of yelling Tommies running up the side of the hill, and although we blazed away they were all over us.
Repeated futile counterttacks to retake Anton, which included getting hit by the Bren twice in the same spot. What looked like dead ground wasn't... good when we finally got back up there though.
Watching the British file up the opposite hillside to attack Bruno, looked just like footage from the war.
Carrying the MG42, not sure I'd want to lug one all the way to Moscow mind.
Repeated failed attempts to blow up the fuel dump, then when we finally did blow it up we recaptured it! Very funny.
Cheers
Martin
