Hello all!

Some of you know me some of you dont so here we go! I'm Martin i'm 22 and i live in Merseyside and the reason i have joined this forum is due to the fact that Operation Husky is being hosted at my home site (The-Ex-Site) which i help to run. Also John (Taffy) who owns the site advised me to join to get to know people before you all show up on our doorstep! :D

At the minute i am working on a British Desert Uniform in preperation for Operation Husky, bearing the markings of the Desert Rats in honour of my Grandad who served in the Logistic Corp supplying the 7th Armoured Division during WW2. He travelled and fought from Africa across to Egypt, up into India and Burma before returning to Africa to be part of the Allied invasion of Italy. When the end of the war was announced he was at the Austrian border where he boarded and spent 8 hours in the Bomb Bay of a Lancaster Bomber to return Home! For his actions he was Awarded The Italy, Burma and Africa Star Medals. Unfortunatly My Grandad passed away when i was two years old. What i know about him i have had to learn from my Mum and Grandmother and not from himself.

I will hopefully have this loadout sorted in time for the event and its a great help to know i have this forum to help me out with any problems that may arise! At the minute i am struggaling on the weapon front as to what British weapons are available or what i can use to pass off a British weapon. But aside from that i look forward to talking to you all and hopefully meeting you all soon!

Much love! :D

Hugs returned Martin - welcome to the forum!
Several WW2-ers bring their family history into the game. A nice tribute and gives a good focus.

See you in N. Wales - er Sicily

Welcome Martin. As regards British weapons, there is not a big choice at the moment. The only non-custom item is the M1A1 Thompson. There are one or two guys who have done nice conversion jobs to the M1928 on theirs. Warren on this forum makes custom guns - Bren, Sten MkV and Lee Enfield - but if you want one of those, start saving your pennies!

Hi Martin,

I assume you have seent the counts as weapon rules?

Unfortunately, as stated above, there is not much cheap choice for Brit wepons so you either need to pay loads for a custom gun (Warren at shoot and scoot for instance) or do the best you can.

Personally I think an M14 (and even the SOCOM if in you put a wood stock on it and hide the RIS rail) looks OK. Failing that, any wood stocked sniper rifle is OK.

I am in the same boat and am dressing up an M249 Para to look like a Bren with a real bren mag, sandbag hessian and some wood.

Good luck with the loadout, Military Mart near Switch Island had some 37 pat webbing or look at the links for mail order e.g Sabre Sales, SOF (can be dear), etc

Dam you Taff!! Lol! Lovin the choice in pic tho! :P

Thanks all! Ive had a think and the best thing i could probs go for on the weapon front would be a wooden M14 and try to 'dress' it a bit. Ive had a good rummage around on the web to so hopefully come the next pay packet ill be all kitted up! :D

M14 is perfect - no need to dress it up. Switch to single shot and the jobs a good 'un... (unless you want to fit a bipod and fire it prone, in which case you case use auto)
