(BTW, our next woodland game will consist solely of Brits filling sandbags and digging bunkers as that seemed to be one of the few things that went down really well! )

Yes please, on a weekend game some more of the routine like improving defences, minefield laying, even cooking and eating in the field would help with the immersion experience.

:good:

It would have great to do a real number on that foxhole, made some great defenses, and then brewed a cup of tea in them. 8)

Also another spade would have been useful.

Yes I agree I would've been chuffed if we'd had a little time to make some sort of defensive position somewhere...anywhere in fact haha preferably just across from the bridge with clear sights up the bank.

Had a great day, in the morning our squad did as it was told, only engaged the enemy when fired upon whilst observing the enemy advancing on a fuel dump. We drew sporadic fire from the trees and took up positions behind fallen logs and tree stumps waiting for the enemy to draw closer. After approximately 5 minutes they retreated as we were reinforced by Barrie and a couple of members of his squad (luckily with some Garands for a bit of range!)
They continued through, our position having been over run by our own patrol we headed back to the CP.

Sometime during the morning we also got a first class view of the British getting buggered by the Germans (not literally buggered, that wouldn't be nice!).

Also took part in a somewhat mad advance on the Germans, both Americans and British pushing the Germans down past the wall.

LUNCHTIME: Will someone please tell me if a common ingredient of Veggie Stew is normally cigarettes? There was a distinctly suspect after taste to that stew!

Game didn't really go my way in the afternoon, I fell in the river and had to be saved by Lipton and someone else. Got freezing cold and submerged my Thompson in water!
Thompson went all funny and didn't want to cause further damage so I took it back and got my Springfield, during the final assault on the bridge at the end of the game the rear sight broke off and I couldn't find it then it jammed just before I ran out of ammo. To top all that off a seal froze on my 1911 and despite the fact it had a near full clip in it, it was buggered. I then ran around medic-ing people for a few minutes before endex was called with an almighty explosion.
Many many thanks to all at CiA, despite the fact I got piss wet through and broke 3 guns in the space of 2 hours and got 2 out of 3 grenades given to me piss wet through in the process...amazing pyros, great game, good scenario...and wish I'd had my 30.Cal ready in time.

Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane, and I'll show you a man who will fight!

Plenty of spades and sandbags were available - I just didn't anticipate waiting so long for the enemy to show up!

That's because they were distracted grenade-ing Horus at the secondary river position. Forcing him to fall back and then get lost.

Well, what can I say, That was Fantastic!, it was my first CIA event and also my first WW2 event, and I loved it, I had some high points and some real low points, the low's were being shot after I have taken a hit and am trying to get a drink, it tends to take two hands to get my water bottle out, plus the guy who shot me had seen me get hit, but enought of the low's and on to the highs, Sniping the German mortar crew out of commision with some long range shots, just missing the German commander as he lowered his head and my shot flew over, and getting two startled Germans from behind the wall at the end as they tryed to sneak around, they looked like rabbits cought in headlights.

Over all a very satisfying day and has kept me hooked, many thanks to the CIA crew and also F&O crew for setting it up, and a special thanks to the British Airbourne lads for making me feel welcome, hope to see you all at another event.

"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

If Pete wants to spend that much time in the water, he should be wearing a Royal Navy uniform.....

A big thankyou to the CiA organisers for another great game to your usual high standards :good:

This has definitely been one of my more memorable games if only for the sheer pant wetting terror of nearly drowning  , my favourite part of the day was in the morning working my way round the fuel dumps setting up bobby traps :D although it sounds like I'll have to be more inventive next time  I quite enjoyed exchanging grenades over the wall in the afternoon and finally rounded off with some excellent pyro :good:

Thanks to Guy & HS for, literally, pulling me out of the shit and to the germans for the hot drinks, cake and chocolate :good:

Finally managed to get back on 'tinternet after Virgin and Sky have conspired to prevent me from logging on.

A great days play and big thanks to to all at CiA and F&O for another resounding success. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of Baker Squad in the morning with our roving patrols and the full on assaults of the afternoon

Highlights:

Lying wounded and waiting for a medic whilst watching Yith's mortar attack - 1 Yank and four Jerries - superb!
Bridge Pyro - Awesome & hats off to Chommers & Headshot for that.
Patrolling and nervously investigating some noise by one of the fuel dumps, only to discover a big fox looking at me like I'd just fallen out of the mother ship!

Lows:

Finding out on Saturday night that my airbed was knackered and having to sleep on the very cold ground - still gave me good excuse to drink copious amounts of brandy!!
Discovering that SOF buckle boots are not ideal footwear in boggy conditions despite copious coats of dubbin, Fabsil and any other coatings I could find - I am now suffering a healthy dose of trenchfoot and have suffered the same case of ten bob bits as the rest of afflicted!
Losing my camping chair - I think I left it in the F&O tent when I retired pished on Sat night - if anyone discovers they've suddenly acquired a new chair, let me know!

Can't wait for the next one - and I'm particularly looking forward to our return to UCAP

Merry Crimble to one and all.
