Well I figured I could get away with my German trousers, how about jackboots?! I recently got a nice cheap pair from Finland , not sure how widespread they were in the red army?
Also I take people would be ok if I used "looted German weapons"?

To everyone else thanks for your help in getting John kitted up, Jackboots, Looted weapons are all cool mate. To be honest if you went with Andy with the soviet naval gear as we already have one guy coming with that but up to you.

Jackboots (or the Russian equivalent) were standard issue in the Russian Army, and I often take out an MP40 with my Russian impression, also used a K98. Lots of Russian kit is basically German and things like e.g. captured K98 bayonets were issued as trench knives. I also usually wear my German jackboots rather than Sapogi, as I prefer leather to waxed carboard in my boots

If you're looking for a few more 'Black Devils' I can throw on a Naval tely too, As for jackboots, those Finnish ones from Varusteleka are decent stand-ins for soviet ones, that's exactly what I use mine for,
