What a cracking day! Very warm weather, with an odd shower here and there, made for a very physical days gaming. My Japanese kit was a little thicker than some, so I was cooking for most of the day. The site was dense foliage with paths and tracks running though it, very hot, very humid. Perfect for the scenario. Chris' mission system came into its own, as both sides only had two squads. We saw plenty of action though and had some great moments. Kit levels were very good. The marines really blended in with their camo, and the Japanese looked great too. As for the lauded banzai charges.... Well we did have a mission to carry one out, but just as we were mustering up to do this, we were shot from behind by the second Japanese squad.
Hopefully, there will be some pictures to follow.
Well first off i am a little biased , but great weekend of airsoft , which for so much time i thought may just not happend due to war and peace , star wars celebration and other events but we managed to run 2 games invovling USA marines (40 years apart)
I ache like crazy , i been bitten so many times its unreal but so worth it
First day was the ww2 game with 2 units of japanese vs 2 units of marine , and our unit which had slipped to just 4 due to illness had a great laugh and held out own against the 6s and we only had 4 garands, and for once did not blow ourselves up (normal service was resumed sunday) though i did blow up a few from the other Japanese squad see rule 2 dont be near me when i have grenades ....
But like martin said great kit levels and play with no moans whats so ever, and a couple of new players to the ww2 scene as well getting it straight away we had jungle weather , and the brief shower for a couple of minutes we were wishing it lasted longer...
Sunday we moved forward to Grenada and again another great day , but not really for this page , but it was even hotter than the saturday and weary legs got even worse but again worth it
quick groups photos of both below , and i suspect when pedro is rested will put some photos up here
Well I did of course love every minute. Excellent game day, beautifully planned and executed. I am however itching madly, so many mozzie bites!
I guess it just adds to the immersion!
Thanks fellas!

Mozzie bites are historically accurate. Bonus points if you catch Malaria.

well roadkill sunday we thought may have to go to A&E as his hand was twice the size it was meant to be
but thankfully he says the tablets have calmed it right down
What a fantastic day. Unfortunately I missed the first one, but so glad I could make this.

Thanks
Huge thanks to everybody involved - I had a terrific day once again in Squad 1 for the Marines. Too many epic moments to list! The only downside is that I'm also covered in bites and itching like a bugger...

ahh the good old Pedro , the cannon is not firing , i keep pulling the trigger (cue lots of trigger pulls )
then out of the blue Boom we blew up a tree with a tag round lol
wow some great photos for both days Pedro , you are a star as always
You wanted jungle and we were given jungle! Well sort of.
Hot and humid, 6 foot tall ferns and mossies the size of eagles provided a fantastic backdrop for the day to complete some fantastic missions.
Blowing up fuel dumps with magnetic mines, laying booby traps, capturing and holding the guard tower or retrieving 'authentic' Japanese supplies from the bombed out aid station kept us busy in between the ambushes and sporadic attacks.
Awesome day and couldn't have gone better.
The lonely gyrene no longer! It was so so much fun to see a whole side in marine greens, to be able to play alongside my friends in a small squad and finally get my marine on in the right theatre after so long being the odd one out.
The atmosphere was so good, so hot and muggy I was drenched and the hbts were so heavy by the end of the day. Missions as usual were great, would have liked more fights but, numbers being what they were we missed each other more than usual but we still had a great days airsoft.
I was really impressed with the level of Japanese kit. Usmc is relatively easy to collect a passable set, but there has to be a really concerted effort to make a Japanese impression and the guys have done such a good job.
The only question for me is now that I have most things...what do I get next? Officers kit? Or do I go the way my gut says and go for that truly "been out here too long" look and start....gulp....ripping stuff?
Thanks Chris, Martin and everyone else at fireball that helps put these events together, and my oppos on Team Panda for always managing to make everything slightly more bonkers that it deserves to be.
Josh
Enjoyed every minute of it there was too many great moments to list.
My favourite moment of the day was sitting waiting to ambush the enemy which seemed like forever, every time we heard a Japanese squad move they would go in the opposite direction.
Then suddenly our moment came and it was worth the wait walking through the dead japs screaming for help
I thought the level of kit was fantastic as was the game play, and the weather was really good too.
I got lots of bites from those pesky midges but I soon learned that mosquitos don't like hand gel so I was applying it like sun cream all day
Big thank you to Chris for all your time effort and money you put into the game, and tin for the behind the scenes stuff too. Not forgetting all others who were involved can't wait for the next pacific event
Man you go out of your way and import the biggest and meanest mossies you can find and everyone moans all i can say thank god for piriton , think i may have to start packing it to games
oops put it on both 34th pages and forgot here to say it was a close game is only half the story lol
We have enganged by the enemy! Unknown numbers and support, we have been shelled all morning from there ships but we are dug in and will hold to the last man ... Patrols have been sent out to Harass and slow down the Americans soldiers...
Well after the first of 2 very hot days , it felt like the pacific , hot , humid , mossies galore and did i mention Hot, we took our Japanese squad out and booby trapped the area , blew a tank up with a cannon (well mainly tree) , took out fuel dumps with magnetic mines, ambushed American patrols, pushed our lines further into Usa held land , went on patrol, fetched supplies gathered intel and attempted to do a banzai charge only to be gunned down by a over eager japanese squad hidden in bushs just as we were about to start with 1 man left with a dagger he did not get far before been gunned down by a marine or two ... but all in a cracking day followed by a great BBQ and social after
With great play from both sides, It could not have been closer, with both teams doing the same amount of missions , but with 4 different scores from the squads it turned out to be a tie , exact same team score, its often close but it has never been a tie, so well dont to both sides, The Americans have established a base on the island , but met stiffer opposition than they expected and failed to move the Japanese out of there dug in defences .. the battle continues ...
Many thanks to everyone that came and all those that helped out, hope you all had a great day, and thanks for hacking it till the end in the Heat, great to see a couple of new folk to the WW2 scene as well
marines asked for a recount and after double checking it , still a draw lol
