I'm not sure arm pockets are totally realistic for a D Day look, but I'm putting mine on anyway to give me some extra load capacity. Question is, how far down the sleeve, from the shoulder seem, do they go and does the short or long part of the flap go to the front?

Just out of interest what would you carry in it? I think it was covered in 1 of the other threads... but I believe it should be sewn on just below the line of your unit patch... or wherever comfortable.

Not sure yet, but I'm sure I'll find something that'll need carrying that I can't get in the meagre webbing pouches, even if its just food
Better on my arms than in the way in the chest pockets.

Yeah you dont want melted choc all over your jump suit hehe

Why dont you be different and sew them on the rear skirt of your jumpsuit and stand out from the crowd ![]()
I got 2 pockets with my jump suit, but have only ever seen the left one in any period pictures. Did they ever get sewn onto to both sleeves?

To be honest the extra pockets in any position were very rarely seen and even then in very limited quantities so to be honest have been overdone with too many people having them nowdays but if you realy want to use them i suppose its entirely up to you where you put them ![]()
One question, don't you already have enough load capacity with the 9 pockets on your jumpsuit?!

You can never have enough pockets!!
you sound like a geek - fill the pocket with pens/pencils but of course using a pocket-protector
i have seen a few pics with them on the back of m42 jackets, but to be honest they are crap, the way they are pleated means inside the room is decreased, you cant get much in them, made one of mine into a 82nd brassard, chucked the other away.
Right - last question on this (honest), was there a standard way round these arm pockets went (short side on flap to front or back of sleeve)? I've seen images of both, but thats from BoB and SPR - not the most authentic reference material going. There's not enough detail on the period photos I've found to make out.
For the record - I've decided to go for just the one on the left arm.

Wheres the pic gone???
Still there, may take a second to load.

Extra pockets were mostly a 506th thing? Forrest Guth started it he claims and a few in the unit joined in.
Any confirmed photos of other units doing it?
