I use the bag. I made a cardboard lining to separate the two rows of three mags and stiffen the bag somewhat. Like any bag they can get in the way - one way round it is to pass the strap under your belt so it is tight by your side or even tie the strap round your belt rather than over your shoulder.

I am a clumsy chap and frequently find the contents scattered when diving into cover! I find it is often tricky to close when the bag is partially full as you need something behind the press stud to push against.

Having said all that I'm still using it and not been tempted by the pouches. On an open day you can dump the bag by your side in a comfy hollow and have 2500 rounds at your disposal

Nah, fine. IIRC in SPR Tom Hanks ties his bag to his pistol belt - if it's good enough for him...

Alternately, you could use a 'Swiss' (?) leather mag pouch bag.

Made from stiff brown leather with 4 compartments and a shoulder strap. I bought one very cheaply (

I found that with the pouches :P
Pity velcro wasn't invented before 1939 :p

Which reminds me - a while back Joe (Wong) witnessed me spilling yet another bag of mags and as I cursed he suggested putting velcro under the lid lip. Brilliant  I thought, it won't be seen, then promptly forgot.

So, as I will be leading the Yanks at Wotan I must put that mod into action before I forget again!

I suggest it because my modern loadout is clad with velcro-closed pouches. Ideal with a quick reload under fire, since you just slam shut and forget. No fiddling with press-studs, clips or buckles :)

Used a mag bag for yonks. Works fine and you can just sling it round your back when you're done.

when doing us loadout, i had 2 X 3 cell thompson pouches,

and a mag bag to drop my emptys in to.

as soon as the fire fight goes quiet or you die, reload with speedloader, and put mags back in pouches.

you never have a "load an empty mag moment"

and the mag bags great for carrying other shit, if not mags (bbs grenades etc)

worth having imo

Not much has been mentioned about your defection yet - I knew you were dodgy when you refused my rye bread and sausage at CR!

i was worried about the mag bag not closing over the mags properly and them falling out while running, jumping about etc, so i put a drawsting top bag ( the bottom off an old pair of combats sewn up on the cut end) inside.

I use the 5-cell pouch, and and have the tops of the mags sticking out of the top, the pouches are tight enough to keep the mags in.

It's a good idea Scaley - anything to stop the tonnage of lost mags on airsoft sites!

if you put your pistol belt over the top of the straps when you get ready, the bag doesnt flap when you run :)

i have had a seamstress sew the drawsting bag into my thompson bag, then i cut out the rest of the material its really secure now, and with the lid closed you cant see the drawstring closure.well worth £3.00 .
