I have just got one of these SS tunics from Barry Lyndon, did the heer ever use them? would one look wrong with a heer breast eagle on it & heer shoulderboards? I think the camo looks better than splinter, I read in the book "sniper on the eastern front that Sepp Allerberger had a custom camo shirt made for him by the unit taylor

I pretty sure these weren't "issue" items (same goes for Dot 44 helmet covers). I've seen a few pics -very few, mind you - and they all look to have been made by unit tailors.

However, a Heer soldier wearing SS camouflage would be rare as rocking horse shit.

Agreed, not for das Heer. There is some [ok 2 photo's I've found] to support the use of army zeltbahns by the SS in building tents but none I've seen for Wehrmacht using SS camo uniforms. Let's remember any camo apart from a zelt was rare for the wehrmacht.
If you fancy the camo but not the SS the Herman Goering div used some SS camo.

You would have been better with a set of reed green hbt's? For combat the M43/40 is better than the Panzer style but the latter does look great. The panzer style ones from panzerfaust1943 are superb.

I like the colours so much I may use it for normal skirmishing, my tan & water pattern sniper smock with hood is great for normal sniping

I noticed at the D-Day game that Soldier of fortune are selling Oak A smocks for £50 now as well. They looked the same as Barry Lyndons and work out cheaper than buying from HK! Never thought I'd see myself promoting SOF!

its just badly made. Its small across the shoulders and xxl around the back, complety wrong cut. Must add this is the one i got so maybe others are ok.( well maybe) I sell some chinese stuff , the cotton tunics etc are ok, but a lot of the wools and camo is poorly made, thin wool and cheap starched cotton. However its all down to budget but i would recommend to buy the best you can afford, it not olny looks better it will last much longer, of course buying from me would be the best option.
