Probably the same as the old "LMG" the British army used, basically a Bren chambered for 7.62. The 30 round mags for it used fit the SLR and were much sought after by squaddies.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Canadians also use or used MG42s as MG3 - And the M60 was in fact a hybrid design between the MG and the FG 42!!!!!!
The MG42 still stands proud as the best and fastest firing single barreleld GPMG built.

Did you know it had to be SLOWED Down for operational use?

Mind you, there was the MG45 as well. Just gone into final development phase at the end of '44. Prototypes had to be slowed down to 1800 RPM for field use (as stated in several documents we have in the Archives at work. Don't believe all you read on Wikipedia ;) )

I don't do Wiki Jay - As said - the 45 was a prototype.... and 1800 is some rof. The 42 in all its guises is still the finest GPMG ever made.
But to my original question.
So is this ACM bugger happening or not? Or do we just not know?

in a word or two. We have no idea. :? Been plenty of rumours over the last year or so, but nothing concrete. the only thing in its favour is AGM are the only manufacturer to be turning out WW2 guns in any quantity.

The mg42 will be released (think positively chaps!). As to when, well at a rough guess, the next 2-3 months. As I have said, agm have already produced the moulds for it, its just a matter of time now.
