Finished the rear sight today and fitted it to the silencer. I know it’s quite different from the original but it was the best I could do with the bits I could get hold of. All in all I’m fairly happy with how the guns are going considering this is the first attempt at anything like this.
I have injured my back and will be off work for a few days so probably won’t get much more done on the guns this week. There’s only one more metal piece though then it’s just the magewell left to do.

really impressed with these, you've dode an excellent job and as a first project...well you'll be putting us all to shame if you follow these with more rare pieces.

Thanks for the kind words. I do hope to build more replicas once these are finished, I'm thinking about the Lanchester next possibly.
I have almost fully recovered from the back injury and have begun to work on the guns again. I have finished the final metal component which is the band that goes between the body and the handguard. I have also been doing work on the other 2 guns to get them all to the same state of completion.

The magwells have turned out to be more of a hassle than I originally thought. I have made some but the design needs a few tweaks to get them working consistently. In the mean time I have begun to blue the metal. This is going to be a very time consuming process but the results are well worth the effort.
Here are a few before and after photos of the parts I have blued so far.

Finally got the magwell working consistently. I know it’s not going to win any beauty contests but it works and that all it needs to do.

The bluing process is pretty much all done now. Next week I will be doing the final fitting and adjustments to the guns, and I should hopefully have 2 of them working by the end of the week.
I am in need of a third donor gun, so if anyone has a VSR-10 they would like to get rid of please send me a PM. It doesn’t matter about the aesthetics of the guns as long as it works.

a bit of filler and some vaneer and those mag wells would look a little more subtle but its only going to show from beneeth so i wouldent worry too mutch .looking really good

I have fully finished the first of the guns!!!!!!
I took it out for a few test shots and I was very pleased with the range and accuracy. I weighed the gun today and it came out at 3.7Kg which is about half a kilo heavier than the real thing but that’s not bad considering I haven’t concerned myself with weight at all and it did have its sling on. But enough blub lets have some pictures:

And one with my Thompson for size comparison

I may add some veneer to one of the mags to test is out.
Hopefully the second gun will be finished today which will just leave the last one to finish when I get the donor gun.
I am planning on selling at least one of them so if you’re interested in one let me know.

excellent effort ![]()
The second gun is complete and working well. I am planning on putting them both through the chrono tonight and will post the results. I also waxed the first gun to get a better shine on the wood and to add more protection for the steel.
I popped outside this morning and took a few photos of the two guns together.

I also thought I might explain a little clearer how the mag catches work. I decided the simplest way was to use some high strength magnets instead or a spring and it has worked really well, the whole magwell and catch is made from polycarbonate.

Absolutely brilliant job there!

Thank you.
Managed to find my Chrono last night and tested the guns. One is spot on 328fps the other is a little higher somewhere around 334fps with a highest reeding of 337fs. The pleasing thing was the consistency of the shots. Both guns were remarkable consistent averaging about a 5fps variation.
