When I started on this airsoft thing I whanted to be a sniper but I see that people just keep walking after you shoot them and dont say that you hit them
So I started to look out on AEGs and I founded the MP40 and here is the thing

There is the TOP mp40 but it haves less fps than the average aegs so I Would have to make an upgrade on it and will cost even more

Then I saw this new AGM MP 007 (MP40) it shorts at 320fps but I dont know iff it is any good cuality

Here are my cuestions AGM mp40 could take upgrades?

How many bbs holds their mags?

Her finish is too cheap? Looks like a toy?

PD: next week I got my tanaka luger p08 could you tell me some stuff da I should do whit it? Like dont leave the mags whit gas on it or no using greengas etc

Sorry my english. espanish is my birth language and thanks for all who post in here

Hi the agm mp40 is great the finish is not as good as the TOP mp40 but at least it works! the Top mp40 needs to have A LOT of money spent on it to make it a useable weapon. The finish is all metal and in my opinion is quite acceptable. It looks like a mass produced gun which is what it was.
as fore the luger treat it with great care never use green gas in it and always cock it before inserting the magazine or you will break the firing pin I always keep a bit o maintenace gas in all my magazines this stops the seals from drying out
hope this helps

Simple reason - V3 upgrade parts will fit the AGM. The hop-up maybe an AGM original design, but can be modified to work properley.

Regarding K98 Vs MP40 - if i only had the option of taking one gun, it would be the MP40. Far better off with an AEG first, then a more specialist gun further down the line.

You are dead right when you say people just walk away from a single shot hit, I've got a tanaka G version K98, and I've simpley stopped using it, because people just don't take their hits, I use it with green gas and a 2.5 gram bb and its got some punch, and is very accurate. I try to shoot blokes in the neck, and I've hit bags of times, and you can actually see them, reach out and touch their necks, as if to say "OOCH", single shot weapon aint worth if unless you've got real honest players. I've got an MP40 now and that will have to do 'til I can save some pennies for a Shoei MP44, probably have to raid the kids money box or something!

The TOP MP40 is just too unreliable for a skirmish gun, the bellows system is crap and the PGC box conversion is too expensive. The AGM MP40 is fine, mine was shooting perfect out of the box, I used it last weekend in its first skirmish and it handled nicely, the locaps I thought would be a problem ended up being a godsend, I think I used a grand total of around 200 BBs all day whereas with hicaps I normally go through 2000, even the 1100 mini battery I got with it lasted all day, AGM superb :)
I`m quite sad to hear about the single shot issue (people not taking hits), having never used a bolt action in anger. Our local site was thinking about having some bolt action games only so that may be interesting.

The first question (title of the thread) - Kar 98 or MP40. Have to say it's MP40 unless you are really committed to bolt action (or really must have a kar 98).

You are right there can be some 'challenges' to sniping.

One of the worst aspects of 'sniping' in airsoft seems to be that some peeps seem to believe that if they haven't engaged you then you can't possibly engage them. If peeps won't take hits until they can see the whites of your eyes then the benefits of (potentially) longer range with a bolt action rifle are lost.

The other habit some peeps have is a reluctance to being taken out by a lone BB, maybe putting it down a stray / fluke / ricochet / bad luck / whatever and therefore not deserving of any recognition. You generally have to pepper them with a few more before they get the hint.

An example of both of these that I do recall was 2 guys who just stood there, talking to each other and looking around trying to spot me as I was merrily pinging BBs off their chests one at a time, after 5 or 6 hits a piece they'd leave, regen and then come back for a repeat performance. We went through this ritual several times before they eventually they spotted me and promptly doused the area in BBs.

Given that you are often stuck with the same fps limit as aegs on some sites and that some aegs are preety good range and accuracy wise (eg TM M14 (and clone)) you have to be pretty committed to bolt action to stick with one over an aeg. Maybe if ammo limits were more realistic then things wouldnt be so bad but when the aeg wielders are carrying hundreds of rounds (each game) they can hose your position down and you are at a severe disadvantage with a bolt action gun. Give aegs a 200 round limit per game and it would be interesting to see whether the spray and pray tactics would still be so widespread.

I seriously reckon that if you want to encourage bolt action rifles and support guns you have to

a) reduce ammo limits for everybody but still allow the support guns still can carry several times more than the aegs.
b) allow bolt action guns to run higher fps - somewhere in the region of 4 to 500fps.

Anyway, back on topic: there aren't any cheap Kar98s out there, the TOP MP40 is relatively pricey and reportedly unreliable whereas the AGM version is a relative bargain and the internals do appear to be reasonable and should be upgradeable/rebuildable relatively easily so I really think the AGM MP40 is the best bet. So in response to the poll then yep AGM all the way.

Andy

Yup, totally agree with everything you say there O.F. it would be nice to limit ammo for those using automatic weapons and increase ranges for bolt action weapons and supports (with large amounts of ammo). But, I think it'll be a long time coming before attitudes change and people stop hosing each other down, like something out of a Rambo movie, using a bag of 2000 + bb's per game. Ammo limits are the only way forward, until then I am gonna hose down everyone I see, just like everyone else does.
Although, I've cobbled together a hi-cap for my MP40, and it now takes something likre 300 bb's, the low caps that come with the new cheaper MP40's are a great idea and should be encouraged, and hi-caps banned, but like I've already said. can't see that happening any day soon. Until then, I'm as guilty as the rest.

Having drifted a bit OT already I'll just point out the ammo limits for CiA have worked pretty well (though can't be called mil-sim). In addition we have a balancing process with team firepower.

Last game Thompsons pretty much owned the day but they were spread over both sides. This time round we will undoubtedly see the biggest gathering ever seen of MP40's at any UK airsoft game and they will all be on one side so consideration will be given to their low mag capacity...

This is discussed elsewhere ( see Diggahs little MP40 store) but the answer is they all take about 50 with some pushing .

I will have 3 standard caps ( 150 bbs ) & a few spedloaders, unless I feel like mass murder & will employ my "captured" thompson, still miles more acurate than my mp40.
