My god that looks like it's going to be horribly expensive

It does look good but...

You know what really grinds my gears? Airsoft manufacturers who use hex bolts for historical guns. Especially when the rest of the work is good!

I was going to say just the same thing. Be it uniforms, kit or weapons, when the item is historical in nature I don't understand why a little extra research and effort in getting it correct is that difficult. It's the apparent laziness in research that gets me, the post war trigger groups fitted to M1 Garand replicas being a prime example.

A shame it's only got the simplified late pattern rear sight too.

The wee inaccuracies with bolts, etc, seems to suggest it's squarely aimed at the airsoft market, rather than hardcore reenactors, who'd scoff at such wild liberties. :giggle:

I'm honestly not bothered in the slightest. The simplified rear sights are more than enough for airsoft, but my biggest worry remains cost. Not of the gun, necessarily, but the magazines.

I'm happy to spend a bit more on a one-off gun, but extortionate and limited magazines will kill it's skirmish practicality dead.

EDIT: Especially if everyone on here is fighting over them!

Maybe one could create a 3d printed alternative...

I'm in two minds about this gun. I have a vsr and was going to get my own lee enfield vsr built for me or I could wait till this rwa rifle is out. What do I do?

Regards,

Ralph

Both, keep the best, sell another one :)

Not using the VSR has killed it in my eyes.
The magazine placement/reloading process will kill it as a skirmishable weapon.

With regard to the sights, as far as I know these are legitimate Lee Enfield 'Battle' sights I believe they were fitted to late manufacture guns to allow cheaper and easier manufacture. For the record I have one of these sights which I'm planning to fit to a Lee Enfield conversion, if I ever get round to doing it.

Just found this, a Lee Enfield fitted with these sights; https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/12 ... i-303-brit

I reckon this will be over £500 by the time it reaches the UK. Think I`d rather knock up a lookalike from the trusty old VSR.

If the performance is the same as a Tanaka k98, I'll happily pay the same price.

I agree with ZB. Much depends on its performance. It certainly looks great but I'd rather have a gun I can use.

I`m not sure if that`s comparable, the RWA gun is a springer not gas.

I think if it functions reliably and can be repaired and up/downgraded with off the shelf parts and the mags are reasonably priced, it'll be worth the same as a Tanaka, although it is an awful lot for an airsoft gun. If it's just a pretty wall hanger like the KTW, then no.

Being spring it should be more useful than a gas gun to people in cooler climes such as ours anyway, as long as it's not complete crap.

The fact that they decided to not use the VSR as a base has lowered my hopes for it though, but at least it's still spring. If it's decent and a fair price I really hope they follow it up with a No1 Mk3.

In that if its around £500 and can accurately hit to 60m plus, then I'm happy. I don't care if it's spring or gas, I just want a good level of finish and consistency.
What I won't do is be one of the first to get one. I'll wait until someone on here buys one and wait until they have tried it out and posted their results. You know there are always those that want to be the first to own one, I'll wait and find out what they think. If there are any faults with the finished product, you know it will be ripped apart on here

After experimenting with my VSR/SMLE build I have concluded the following:
If it has the standard VSR bolt travel, and the bolt is located in the realistic location, it will be very uncomfortable to cock with the rifle shouldered.

Any further news on this? I've been eyeing up a co2 Springfield as a base for conversion but would rather get this if I could.

"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

I found this was only a problem with rifles packing high powered 450 fps springs. I remember pulling a muscle in my shoulder with Gadge's Shoot and scoot many years ago. My enfield is MP001 based (basically a VSR) and with a m100 (if I recall correctly) spring shooting at around 345 fps, the bold handle is correctly located and it cocks very easily while shouldered.
